Kanna (mesembrine) in changa

Migrated topic.

Have anyone tried Kanna (Sceletium tortuosum) or other mesembrine-containing plants, like Ice Plant (Delosperma bosseranum), in changa? Mesembrine have an interesting, mildly psychedelic and tryptamine-like effect alone, so my feeling is that these plants may combine well with DMT. Anyone with experience on this combination, or any thoughts?

I don't think caapi or harmalas should be used in the same mix though, because of the SSRI-like effect of mesembrine. Serotonin syndrome isn't nice...

I've tried Kanna sublingually following oral Caapi, and didn't notice any negative effects. Vaporized Kanna often hits me too quickly, and brings an edge of anxiety. I will try it with some low-harmala changa and report back.

I think there is no definite proof that kanna is a SSRI, but it is suspected. Personaly, I would not risk it!
I'd even wait a couple of days after kanna consumption before taking any maoi. I mean, i appreciate all experimental data, but would advise against seriously risking your health.

Well I have been using a sceletium tincture to help with anxiety and generally improve my mood. I stopped using it for a week before smoking changa (20x caapi leaf) I then figured I'd try a small amount of tincture and then smoke to see if there were any noticeable side effects and I honestly couldn't' pinpoint any. I have since been taking a dose of 20 drops of the tincture every morning and the occasional changa pipe in the evening. If there are any adverse effects, they are either very mild or biding time waiting to kick my ass.
My advice is to to do the same. if you notice anything odd then stop.

Seems like you're all talking about using caapi in the same changa mix, which is exactly what I'm planning to avoid. As I stated, I wonder if Kanna or similar plants together with smoked DMT would be a good combination. I can understand now that you may have thought the use of the word 'changa' to mean a mix with caapi or harmalas. That may be the correct meaning of the term. Perhaps I should have used enchanted leaf, or enchanted root.

No one that have tried this? I will try to make enchanted leaf with Delosperma bosseranum soon, will report back. :)

I have always used kanna irrespective to my harmalas intake, though I've never co-administered the two, and have never noticed an ill effect. I have never seen solid evidence for kanna's reputed SSRI effects, other than that (dubious?) patent.

However, I see no benefit or large benefit in the mixture of kanna and harmalas vs the potential negative interactions IF INDEED it does have SSRI effects. As for using it with DMT-enchanted (much better term, btw!), I suspect the kanna wouldn't really register in any appreciable way until the DMT had worn off... I could see it adding to the afterglow a certain moral calm though. I could also see pre-dosing with kanna reducing pre-flight jitters without unduly affecting the conscious mind.

no. It is contraindicated with SSRI's..which THH is..Some might do it sure and be fine but I dont think it is something that anyone here should really suggest another person do for obvious reasons.
