Kash extraction question: letting the acid cacti tea sit for a week helpful?

Hello all!

I'm thinking of ways that someone without any hurry can improve the yelds on Kash extraction. The original tek asks for simmering 4 to 6 times the cacti material with citric acid as the first step, and then evaping the final tea to a good concentration.

My question is: Is it worth ti to let the cacti material sit with citric acid water for a week or two to get more alkaloids out of it? Or is just a waste of time?

Thanks

If you were going to pause at any point, immediately after the acid cook is a good one, although you might as well strain off the first brew and put fresh acidic water on the pieces while they wait. I'd use boiling water for this, and tightly cover it to reduce the chances of mould.

Keep both the first brew and the subsequent pre-brew refrigerated once they've cooled, and/or use acetic acid to help inhibit mould formation.

Main reason for long boiling is to decompose/hydrolyse cactus mucilage. It is mainly the mucilage what complicates extraction. Alkaloids themselves are very soluble in water.
Save your time for next steps.

Yes - it's not going to be a timesaver, but can be worth considering if there's something more pressing that comes up. Ideally, the extraction would take place at a time where external obligations can be excluded or comfortably mitigated.
