It's worth a try using the glass cone insert I guess. Given the different sized bowls there could be a risk it wouldn't fit in place well.  With my kiseru I molded the mesh into the shape of the bowl, punched a hole in the base and trimmed the excess giving it a nice clean finish. The mesh insert is easily removed so you must be sure not to misplace it. The mesh is easily cleaned once removed, ensuring a smooth flow of smoke with great control over the speed of the draw and therefore the burning temperature of the changa.
