Hi Lighteningspirit,
welcome to the Nexus!
if this is your first time working with ayahuasca and its analogs it is best to start low. a good starting point is 3g rue with or without 2g acacia. for a moderate experience 3g rue + 4g acacia. for a strong experience 4g rue + 5g+ acacia. of course things can vary and some people need more or less but these are typical doses, do not use more than 4g rue.
regarding preparation, your best bet is to do the the long simmers. the preparation for both rue and acacia is similar, for rue use whole seeds and for acacia finely shredded or powdered bark. it is better to cook them separately and later decide on whether to ingest them together or not. it can be as simple as dumping the plant material in a pot with water and cooking it for few hours but here's how I would do it.
start by quickly rinsing the plant material with cold water to remove debris (skip if working with powder). add hot water to your plant material and let it soak for a couple hours to get it well hydrated. do a couple freeze/thaw cycles (use appropriate jar/dish for freezing to prevent it from braking). these first steps are optional but I do them bcz I have the time. do 3-4 1h gentle simmers, use enough water to liberally cover the plant material and top off as needed to account for evaporation, combine the liquids from the simmers (of each plant separately) and reduce to a drinkable amount. some people like to add vinegar or lemon juice during simmers but I find that it makes the taste worse so I avoid it.
regarding your now deleted question I will simply say yes, please read carefully the
