so my friend did 5 pulls with naphtha and the yield is being rectystalized.

the leftover naphtha from freeze precip was used to do 3 more pulls, which are evap'ing down.

should my friend keep pulling with naphtha or would bestine work better to pull any remaining spice? my friend also expressed some interest in trying to extract the red spice. is it about the same ammount of toluene used as naphtha when doing pulls for red spice (ie: 50 ml per 50 g of bark)

i should also mention that the soup has been marinating for like 5 days..

It sounds like you've pulled as much as the naphtha will pull. If you're interested in pulling the red spice, I'd skip the bestine and just do your next pulls with xylene or toluene; both have been reported to pull spice that the naphtha leaves behind, and it can easily be seperated from the red spice (though it may come out yellowish).

Yep, the amount of toluene used for a red spice pull is the same as the amount of naphtha used for an elfspice pull. As far as the red spice is concerned, post reports indicate that marinating is a good thing... it could be that this allows for some base-catalyzed breakdown to reach equilibrium... or not, who knows.

btw I'm back to work on the Jungle spice page now that finals are over, I just finished an overview of the botanical confusions surrounding MHRB, next up is a discussion of the various "colored spices".

white spice most likely resides in the red spice unless you completely utterly exhausted your bark. after doing toluene pull and you get that red gunk you can extract more white spice from it using warm hexane. its a way to increase your yield because in reality dmt is not that soluble in hexane hence why you can recrystallize from it. in some acid base experiments some guy didnt use any hexane at first just extract with toluene and or diethylether (both are nasty chemicals by the way so be careful toluene is harder to evap and ether is very flammable) and got a bunch of red spice from which he extracted his white spice using warm hexane to get a very normal yield.
unless you want to smoke the red spice it seems to be quite potent from whatever else is in there.

I let my soup sit for a week or two before extracting red spice

do you let it sit alone or with toluene in it for a week or 2??
alone but there is always a thin layer of naptha that i can never get (Damn turkey baster)that sits there as well then i use xylene cant find toluene i don't think its a big difference
