Long-term effects of using DMT

Hey y'all,

I'm no-DMT user. I used 5MeoDMT a couple of times in a row (20mg, and 40mg). After that I kinda started reading up on what it is, and really started shying away from 5, the frog extraction method didn't work out with the views of the world I have. So here I am, looking forward to my N,N-DMT journey.

I had successful extraction, looking to start with 20% (low-potent) changa. I don't want to go full power right away, but I think I'm ready for a breakthough, haha.

My question is about long-term effects of using DMT. I don't wanna open a can of dicks I won't be able to close.

The intention is to address some health-related issues, like body tensions, stress, elements of anxiety. In other words, use it like medicine in the first place, not recreational use (not judging).

So those of you who have experience using it over the last 10 years or more, who had hundreds of changa experiences - what long-term effects have you observed? Did the molecule change your life to better or worse from practical point of view? I am not saying spiritual, because it's very subjective.

From practical it's more important, since I have a family, and I'm not interested in breaking any relationships, for example, even if they might seem tough sometimes. I'm wondering if you're more successful because of DMT in this world we experience everyday, even if it looks less real. I'm wondering if long-term effects make everything around you better, or make you lazy and you stop doing your laundry, for example.

From the sounds of it, you'd do just as well to look into the harmala alkaloids.

With any experience, once you've had it you won't be able to un-experience it. It's better to be able to embrace or surrender to whatever the molecule shows you. If you feel that you may have buried trauma that could be brought to the surface through entheogen use, it would be desirable for you to be prepared through having access to some kind of reliable support, especially if you have any qualms about your mental fortitude. The Nexus forum and chat may be able to serve as a back up here. We would also recommend having some familiarity with meditation techniques, having a decent diet and nutrition, and taking a modicum of regular exercise - all the general tips for good health, of course.

I've used harmalas far more than I've used DMT (and maybe have finally even overtaken my previous mushroom use!) and IME a dedicated practice has brought the greatest benefits with respect to anxiety, healing of trauma and coming to terms with mortality. Success in the world is a highly subjective metric. I would suggest you're certain about your own (your very own) metrics before making any judgements there.

Well, DMT isn't pot :p The rest of it is very much down to your intentions. If it were to strike you that you absolutely must lead a life as a Saddhu, laundry might become entirely irrelevant.

I also did 5-meo-dmt before I tried regular dmt. In my experience the toad was a way more powerful and mystical experience of complete ego dissolution for me than regular dmt (but I was also doing it with a professional facilitator). when I came back to my body after experiencing the toad medicine for the first time, I was in shambles. I mean UNCONTROLLABLY SOBBING harder than I have ever sobbed in my entire life, in a puddle on my friend's floor, snot running all over my face. when I do regular dmt medicine I don't ever really have that experience but I am also doing it without a professional guide. I do just enough that I can still check in with my body and twitch a finger if I get scared so I can remember that I am still, in fact, alive. the first few experiences were maybe just a bit confusing and chaotic, because I was self-administering with a vape pen and didn't really know what I was in for, so I was a bit scared. now that I have had many experiences with dmt, I am not scared of it anymore, and I allow it just do its thang while I lay there and observe whatever comes up. long term effects - mental or physical? I don't know. it does not seem to be having any negative effects on me but everyone is different.

P.S. there is synthetic toad available now if you would prefer the wild toads to be left alone
