If you get the chance, chop as soon as you can then leave the cutting in a dark place, not too warm, for three months. This helps with the potency. This was mentioned above but it's worth being reminded of!

Finding solvents other than white spirit (which is a medium naphtha) in the UK is a pain but not completely impossible. Not too long ago I found some little bottles of DCM in small town hardware store. DCM can be stretched with naphtha and should still pull mescaline.
