So I'm about to siphon off some solvent thats been pulling for about a year... has anyone ever let their jars sit that long before? I can see some crystals that have formed in the solvent layer...
I've got some pulls to do on 2 500g batches that have been sat there for a good 3 months, and I'm only going to tend to them because the missus wa ts me to sort out the clutter in the cupboard it's actually perfect timing though as I have literally just used my last 1g to make some changa so it seems like destiny lol. Anyways, it will be interesting to see what comes from it as the last pull didn't really yield much adter freeze prep and I always read that for STB one should let their naptha mix as long as possible. I'll post back yields!
For a lot of past extractions I kept the exhausted MHRB stew, combined them all in a gallon winemaking jar and added plenty of KoH. I let that sit for a year as I'd forgotten all about it. A few months ago I did a clearout & remembered it so pulled off the solvent layer. It had a heavy emulsion so I seperated the clear solvent from the emulsion. The emulsion gave 225mg of very waxy, non-solid red while the clear solvent evaporated to give an unmeasurable quantity of yellow oil. The oil certainly has effects but hasn't been tried in significant quantity. Isn't that much of it anyway.
I let a lye stew simmer outside for 3 months after only 2 pulls. I doubled up on solvent and stirred it as much as I could for 2 days then evapped solvent and yielded nothing more than a light yellow oil that was inactive.
