So my friends found a 500g bag of MHRB thats been sitting round for a few months and plans to try this tomorrow, please correct any mistakes or help her improve it and help out with quantities.
She plans to try and extract a decent amount of the purest crystals she can in a short amount of time, its purely for personal use for the short term. She's a fairly good chemist and has good equipment.
Make about 2L of ph4 water using HCL and Distilled water, keep it simmering.
Add about 750ml of acidic water to 250g powdered root bark (not sure whats the minimum she could use) and stir while hot for 15 mins.
Vaccuum filter the mixture then add what plant matter remains to another acid cook for 15 mins, vacuum filter this also.
she has equipment big enough for large volumes but if needed she can reduce it down.
She will transfer to a sep funnel and perform three naphtha extractions for defatting 200ml each.
Add sodium hydroxide (lye) solution to the acid extract in the sep funnel until pH 12
(not sure how much naphtha is needed per pull, She'll probably have about 2L of solution by this point)Then 3 naphtha extractions of 200ml each?
Perform 3 distilled water washes, first one with sodium carbonate.
For evaporation she plans to evap the naphtha under vacuum an a round bottom flask until any crystals form so its saturated, then heat up to dissolve and freeze pecipitate and vacuum filter the naphtha, washing the crystals on the filter with more freezing cold clean naphtha.
