Lophophora id + rabbit

Migrated topic.

I've owned the Lophophora below for over 20 years and it's recently been nibbled by a rabbit. Some of the buttons have been eaten almost to the center. Just wondering if anyone can tell me the buttons will recover over time or it is recommended to cut them off?

Also could anyone please id the cactus. It is around 60 years old. I've a feeling it's a straight williamsii but when I was gifted this plant the guy said it was a lophophora diffuza vizaron. Any help with id appreciated.

Thank you.

Diffusa's have white flowers and Williamsii's have pink flowers. It's an old specimen so it probably flowers sometimes.

haha Nathaniel, the rabbit loves it, he has a nibble then disappears for 8 hours.

Thank you dg I'll keep the buttons on the cactus.

It's true nicechrisman, my bridgesii has nibbles also but it's not such a tasty meal due to the spikes.

Hi Poekus, it has flowered and they are a very light pink with white in the center. I feel it is williamsii.

Is Nathaniel a white rabbit?

I wonder how much deeper the rabbit-hole goes if you're actually a rabbit!

Haha, I read that as the rabbit being named Nathanial, not you responding to Nathanial.

Nathanial is a cute name for a bunny.

I bet that rabbit had a great time! I would honestly chop off those ones that are half gone and eat em! That's just me though.
