Low-cost mescaline extraction issues

I started a mescaline extraction using a combination of Ron69's D-Limonene Tek and LucidLemonade's Sunflower Oil Tek. Its important to note that this is the first time I've done an extraction of this caliber.

I will label what I did in steps to make myself easier to follow.

Step 1:

Mix 112g of Peruvian Torch Dried Powder with 28g of Calcium Hydroxide.

Step 2:

Originally, this step would ask for 336ml of Distilled Water to make wet but not watery, but I altered this step because LucidLemonade's Tek asks for a soupy consistency. I added 500ml of Distilled water. I am concerned that I've made it too watery.

Step 3:

I mixed 150ml of 100% pure Sunflower Oil. I waited 2 hours for the oil to separate, but it never did. I gave it a heat bath in hopes that it would separate, but only a tiny amount of oil would accumulate around the edge of the surface of the liquid. I added another 150ml in hopes that it would fix this issue and repeated the heat bath, but still no separation.

I attempted to freeze the liquid in hopes that I could at least scrape the sunflower oil off the frozen ice, but the oil bubbles never climbed to the top so it was all frozen.

After thawing the cactus ice, there was some oil pockets accumulating on the surface of the liquid, but not enough to collect efficiently.


This is where I'm stuck. One idea I had was to run it all though a cheesecloth to get rid of some of the cactus matter to allow the oil to float to the surface easier, but I'm not sure what I did wrong in the first place. I don't want to see this cactus to go to waste.

Also, would it be safe to microwave the liquid in a jar to speed up the heating/seperation process? I have yet to get it to a boiling temperature, however the water in the heat bath was boiling temperature.

Yep, the issue is you made it too watery.

Your best bet is going to be to try and dry it out as much as you can. Adding more lime will help, you can also try adding epsom salts to absorb some of the moisture, but adding a ton of lime will work best. You are looking for a fairly solid glob, think the consistency of cookie dough, you want a nice lump there. If you let it dry out for a while that will also help, but it may not dry out very well with all the oil mixed in there.

When you get it to the point that it's a solid cookie dough consistency lump, then go ahead and add more oil until it submerges the lump and stir it into the dough. Be careful not to stir it too much or else the lump will get liquidy and mix with the oil again, maybe three good stirs then let it sit for an hour or so, you should see the oil get darker/cloudy/take on color. Then you simply pour off the liquid oil from the solid lump.

I would recommend just sticking with 69rons tek from there on out, just replace the word limonine with oil.

edit: there is no need to use heat in this tek till the evaporation step.

Adding lime to the liquid worked like a charm. Had some nasty lime sediment in the evaporation stage, so I plan to use an alcohol wash.

Do you know if you would be able to post your total finished product?
Also were you using the entire cactus or just outer green skin?

I have ~60g of whole cactus that I am hoping to attempt an extraction on in the next week or so and would like any info you've got!

My extraction is turning into somewhat of a disaster. Had I only added the right amount of water at the beginning, my extraction would not have turned into a rescue mission.

So, after adding 300 extra grams of calcium hydroxide to my watery mess, I got it to turn into a cookie dough like consistency. I mixed it in slowly to avoid putting more then I needed, but alas 300 grams seemed to be the magic number.

I added 150ml of oil and shook it all together. It separated, then I shook and separated 2 more times, then removed the oil and put it in a different jar. I let the oil sit for 12 hours to let any sediment fall to the bottom. I did 3 pulls like this.

After all the sediment was gone, I moved the oil to another jar where I added 45ml of vinegar and shook it. Here is where the problems start.

After mixing the oil and vinegar, a white layer of goop started forming at the bottom. I removed the white goop and put it into another jar. I added more vinegar to the oil and mixed, and now its separating like normal, but after evaporating the vinegar I'm getting on these pulls, I'm left with off colored calcium hydroxide.

Is all the goodies in the white goop, and for that matter, what is this white goop? It doesn't dry with a fan and has a very oily consistency.

My idea was to mix the white oil with 99% ipa allow it to separate, but I'm not sure what the white oil contains or if its even worth my while.
