Magnolia trees could be active!

Migrated topic.

Magnolia trees grow in the thousands around here.... šŸ˜
Googled magnolia real quick to see if there was anything interesting, and guess what!

QUOTES FROM WIKI:
"Magnolol is bio-active on GABAA receptors,
4-O-Methylhonokiol is a potent cannabinoid receptor type-2 (CB2) receptor ligand (Ki=50 nM),
Honokiol has been shown to promote neurite outgrowth and have neuroprotective effects in rat cortical neurons. Additionally, honokiol increases free cytoplasmic Ca2+ in rat cortical neurons.[6] Honokiol is a weak cannabinoid CB2 receptor ligand but the naturally occurring derivative 4-O-methylhonokiol was shown to be a potent and selective cannabinoid CB2 receptor inverse agonist and to possess antiosteoclastic effects.[7]
Honokiol is known to act on the GABAA receptors[9]"

SO, we should try some extraction on this... Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Magnolia bark extract is used as a anxiety reducer, sleep aid, and nootropic. It is readily available in standardized extracts. I too got excited when I learned about this as magnolias are also common in my area.

the nutritional extracts i've had from magnolia worked.

IDK how they were prepared, from what species of magnolia, or how much honokiol and other bioactive components were present, but it worked. It worked very well. If i can find the bottle, its a standardized dosage.

I'll see if i can find it.

Very good anxolitic that is far from habit forming ime.

YES, it all makes sense now, lol!
Thanks everyone.
I had to look up amphiphile, and learned it describes a chemical compound possessing both hydrophilic (water-loving, polar) and lipophilic (fat-loving) properties..
Examples are alcohols with large R groups, such as diacyl glycerol (DAG), and oligoethyleneglycols with long alkyl chains.

Do you know of any commonly available amphipathic solvents?

Planning on doing an A/B, or whatever works best, eventually.

Interresting! In could sure use an Anxiolitic to reduce my social phobia which has been growing on me lately. Magnolias are widely sold at flourists & gardening stores.
I'll figure out which particulair magnolia is most desirble for this purpose and buy some of them this spring.

Also I remember a "hippie" classmate mention "people tripping on Magnolia" many years ago allthough I didn't take it all that seriously at the time as he presented merely as a rumour he had heard. But now I see there may be something to it.

ManomManom, thanks for sharing this! I too am wondering wether I can obtain some amphipathic solvents around here without having to order them from specialised chemistry sites...
