meditation method and entheogens

Migrated topic.

Many people at the Nexus utilize meditation in addition to the use of entheogens. But there are MANY styles of meditation. I'm wondering if folks wouldn't mind discussing their style of meditation and how it relates to their entheogenic practice? For myself, I've been using a breath-watching meditation in the insight (vipassana) tradition with the hope that it will aid in attentiveness and calmness, both in normal llfe and during entheogenic practice. I'm also hoping it assists in my lucid dreaming practice.

hope? You dont feel the effects from it?

Tried many different kinds of meditation, watching the breath is the best in my opinion.

A breathing practise from yoga called nadi shodana and another concentration practise called trataka are very beneficial to lucid dreaming.

Not implying that you do it, but do not try to achieve something while doing these practices. A lil bit effort might be productive but too much straining will certainly have adverse effects.

"being aware of one's awareness"

"Dzogchen"

"to remain in the clear, undeluded state of the nature of the mind, unconditioned by thoughts — which is not the same thing as not having any thoughts, which is in any case impossible."

I have no formal training, but this is what I have been doing.

I recently experimented with a very different mediation route before some changa

i'd ingested around 50mg rue harmalas beforehand

Then, after putting on a proteus mind machine (basically synced colored LEDs with binaural), i layed back and began some pranayama

within 10 minutes or so i was in a pretty deeply relaxed state of mind. More relaxed than i've ever been before smoking changa, by far! That in itself was pretty amazing since my heartrate is almost always thumping. i can see this being really useful..

I had no idea how much changa was left from the last time i smoked so i just put it to my lips with the LED glasses and headphones still on and kicking. Turns out it was only a small dose, although this is 10x caapi changa so i was pretty harmala'd. I was amazed how relaxed i was though during the whole experience..so relaxed i really couldn't believe it. It was much different than a low or medium dose of this changa by itself..i lost all awareness of my body and was just traveling in such a smooth and tranquil way. For such a low dose the duration of it was remarkable as well. but the depth and quality of it was what has me so interested (and the relaxed state going into it)
