I have always liked meditation but i really want to get a little more serious about it. While silence is always best its not always the easiest thing to come by, I was wonderig if anybody had reccomendations on good meditation music or sounds? I really like psycadelic music such as Ozric Tentacles, Shpongle and OTT, but that music is usually too intense and busy for meditating. Also I have tried the binureal (or however thats spelled) beats with good headphones, I really like this concept but it just wanst quite cutting it. The stuff i listened too had sub par sound quality, and sometimes some of the flutes and stuff in it are distracting. Also i have tried guided meditation, maybe I just havnt found the right one but it doesnt seem to work for me. So i was wondering if anybody could reccomend some good sound to guide me.
Also, to aid me in meditation I have a jar of ocean water that my mom collected during a full moon, black quartz and a very clear quarts crystal. As far as the quartz crystals go i usually just hold them but im sure there are better ways to use them that im not aware of. I also really like to smudge with sage wich is an americna indian tradition but im not very familiar with the specific ceromonies or anything. I kinda just do what feel right with it.
The didgeridoo is an awesome aid to meditation, almost instantly puts me in a relaxed and calm state.
I know i dont need any of this stuff, really i could just sit anywhere and close my eyes and meditate but these things do seem to help. The best meditation for me is to go on a good hike in the woods, and either find a good view on top of a cliff or a nice spot by a rushing river. The sound of flowing water really takes me away and drowns out my other thoughts.
Anyway, to summarize, I would like reccomendations on good soudns or music. Also I would like to know how others use crystals and things like that to aid meditation. If anybody is familiar with traditional native american prayers or anything I would like to learn more about that. Also I would like to learn about the chakras and meditation practices regarding them. Any tips or comments would be appreciated.
