Mellow Yellow

I've had a very unusual experience with some spice I just wanted to share. I'd pulled some MHRB with an unidentified solvent (sold as heptane but it isn't) when evaporated it yielded a yellow waxy slightly sticky but still scrapable product unlike any other extracted spice I've tried.
As I do I took a little harmala freebase & then vapourised about 35mg (about half) the yellow spice. The effect was a very pleasant enjoyable high with a number of visuals (though not breakthrough): of childlike images, playtoys & stuff evoking a childlike feeling & another vision of some wise fatherfigure trying to show me how to hold the pipe. There were other visuals at that stage: a blue swirly tinge to the ceiling but the main thing was an insightful quality to the experience and a very clear head, which is unusual for me & spice (especially with harmala I'm usually what was that, where am I, etc with very confused thinking).

There was a very short duration and I felt mentally I was back at baseline less than 15 minutes after starting to smoke, I was thinking clearly with no confusion and analysing the visions & the light they shed on my own behaviours.
But at that stage when I thought all the effects had worn off I noticed I still had a very great appreciation of colours, shading, textures and variations in the room, I saw lots of faces and patterns in the shading of the wall but was perfectly straight mentally, if a little introspective. Very surprising effects from this type of spice: pleasant but not what I'd expected. I'm going to try to track down the identity of the solvent I used to pull it anyway.

Hey man I just thought I'd suggest breaking up your thoughts & ideas into paragraphs when making longer posts like the one above, rather then using just one big block of text.

I'm not trying to be a jerk here, it's just that whenever I see the big text block writing style in a post, I usually just skip over them, because it's a pain in the ass to read them!! Really stresses the eye's...ya know.
This has been suggested to lots of other people a number of times before, so I know I'm not the only person who skips over posts like that either.
Also, obviously you are not only person posting like this, so please don't take this as me picking on you

What you have to say, really is worthy of posting it in a way that invites people to read it, easily.
Instead of people trying to read it & having to work at it, so they skip over it to the next one.

Was the solvent you used Bestine?
It is sold at art supply stores as a solvent for glue etc... It contains mainly Heptane, although I would guess the actual % of Heptane in the solvent varies with the brand.
It's relatively expensive compared to Acetone, Naptha, etc...

I just used Bestine to recrystallize around .600mg of DMT at room temp, into large, round, crystal formations that look like tiny Agave Cactus'!!

It works really, really good for doing washes & recrystallization's!!
But it is kind of expensive to be using as the initial extraction solvent & less than ideal.
I think if Heptane (Bestine) is used to do the initial alkaloid pulls, you'll actually be pulling out a pretty large amount of other impurities with the DMT.
This not only results in a dirtier extract, but can mean a smaller yield with each pull.
Because if there are more impurities dissolving into the solvent, this will make less room for your DMT to dissolve & be suspended in the solvent.
Causing a smaller, dirtier yield!

*Naptha & **D-Limonene are both much better solvents to use for initially pulling the alkaloids out of the bark solution!!
Then use the Heptane (Bestine) to clean it up if necessary, now that the bulk of the impurities have already been removed!
It takes considerably less Heptane (Bestine) to fully dissolve your spice than it would using Naptha, so it makes for a more super-saturated solvent, when doing a recrystallization.
Resulting in bigger, more pure crystals...if your into that sort of thing.

* Naptha for pure N,N-DMT.
** D-Limonene for "Jungle Spice".
(D-Limo (& Xylene) pulls the full active alkaloid mixture that is in Mimosa bark, which contains small amounts of something else that is not DMT, but it is psycho active on it own. So when this other alk is left in the spice, it adds a different element to the experience. Some people even prefer it over pure DMT. I'm not one of those people however...I like mine as pure as I can get it!)

It isn't heptane & I'd though Bestine was just another name for heptane. Basically I don't know what the solvent is & I've asked for help in identifying it here.

It was sold as heptane from a hitherto reputable & reliable chem supply company, though it doesn't freeze precipitate anything out but does precipitate with FASA so I know it isn't heptane. Didn't feel I could really complain though - or justify how I know it isn't heptane.
In the past I've found heptane to be very good for pulling clear pure spice initially, generally found it better than naphta, though pricier.

Hmm...strange.
I've only ever bought Bestine the one time. The little .120ml container has been more than enough to do many re-crystallization's with.
If I freeze precipitate it, I'll pour the used solvent back into the can to be used again, unless it's too oily. Although I usually wait to use the Bestine until the spice is pretty clean already.
I just use it for growing the big boys.
