Wanted to comment certain symptoms produced during and after mesca trips.

Headaches: I usually dont get the headaches but some of my friends do and i have had them ocasionally.I noticed that 600mgs of acetylcysteine before the trip eliminates the headache after the experience(and the light hangover fealing) probably because this antioxoidant acts in the liver.Dont know for sure and I dont always take it and not always have the headache, but when i take this substance i feel healthier and never have the headache...

Maybe its just a coincidence and the headaches some of my friends and I have are due to the stress caused by the inmense energy flow through the body...

An other possibility are the chemicals used.I feel I get a cleaner(less agressive to the body) product when i use limonene and acetate vs xylene and hcl...

Other antioxidants like q10, alpha lipoic acid and vit b complex might be helpfull to protect the body.

Dysphoria: Ok dont know if this is the exact term, but sometimes the next few days after a session I can get a little restless and feel anxiety and not to patient.
Again I noticed that antioxidants might help, specially vit b complex, vit c and omega3.

I wonder also if both symptoms are the consequence of the "attack" to serotonin receptors or if there is a dip in serotonin activity in the brain.

this cat has seen a prescription in a dream to remove the physical burden of achuma. it was all about water, pre-dieting with water the day before/morning of to wash your system with osmotic fluids, ultimately flushing oneself with an internally polarizing hydration ceremony.

most cats dont like water, but cactus cats are big fans, and big fans require sources of water for energy purposes, so far this cats ideal dream is a waterfall, but hes not too sure about rocks + falling water + unprotected space helmet (skull). he has found incredible sensations in drinking water, showering, bathing, swimming, and doing a merlin like move where a bowl of water is filled with warm water and the cats face goes right in it while holding breath (if you must attempt this, please do not use di methly you know what i mean, as its physically incapacitating vs cactus where the longer you deprive of oxygen the crazier vision pool gets~!

the pre diet flushing is in accordance with a similar intent for those who practice la dieta for aya, the amount of water to be consumed is entirely based upon the previous negligence of the imbiber of achuma and knowing your own body

yes, tried and true, water does the trick EVERY TIME

bathe/shower + tea/water

neutralize the polarity differential!

Regarding pre-trip diet, what would people's cats etc. recommend to minimize headaches?

Any supplements other than Acetylcysteine that anyone's heard of that prevents headaches?
Other than lots of water, anything to take the day of that will prevent them?

Cats in the past have had HORRIBLE headaches during the tail end of their trips, as well as the entire following day and it made them wary of trying again without a surefire way of preventing the throbbing headache.

One recent experience a cat I know had was preceded by a low calorie, vegetable diet the day before with lots of water, and ginger root juice, 85% chocolate, aniracetam and a "greens superfood", which seemed to prevent the headache. There are other variables involved though, so it might have been coincidence.

Any elaborations regarding the topic of Mescaline headaches would be greatly appreciated.

My freind thinks the headaches are from tyramine. I used to put it down to simple dehydration and sensory burnout but hes an experienced cacti head so its certainly worth considering.

I am SO glad you responded!

Upon conducting some very preliminary research into Tryamine, I discovered that it is apparently a well known causal factor for migraines/bad headaches, and people often get these effects when consuming large amounts of Tryamine rich foods, particularly if consumed in conjunction with MAOI containing foods or MAOI drugs.

Apparently Tryamine induced headaches are sometimes referred to as The "Cheese effect", or "cheese crisis", as aged cheeses contain large amounts of tryamine. The last time my friend took extracted mescaline, he ate an entire 4-cheese pizza the night before dosing, and had nachos as his comedown snack made with aged extra sharp cheddar cheese. He must have had extreme levels of tryamine in his system as evidenced by his 2 day headache starting about 6 hours into his trip. This all not to mention the possible MAOI alkaloid content of certain cactus.

So, long story short, high levels of dietary Tryamine can cause increased systolic blood pressure leading to really bad headaches, and it would follow that if a person had a tryamine rich diet in the days leading up to a trip, then consumed tryamine rich cactus, tryamine levels could be elevated to the point of inducing the "cheese crisis" complete with trip-ruining level headaches.

Further evidence for this is that this same friend took another trip about a week or two after the first, and having consumed no cheese or tryamine rich foods in the several days leading up to the trip, he experienced no headache!

Maybe this chain of causality is common knowledge, but I couldn't find discussion of it anywhere in explicit terms on forums, indicating this may not be widely known. Thus, hopefully me breaking it down in simple terms here could be helpful to future cactus enthusiasts.

This question's answer might be obvious, but I wanted to ask if my fried decided to conduct future cactus extraction experiments (for research purposes obviously), would he minimize the Tryamine content by more extensively purifying his extract with either a more thorough Acetone or MEK wash depending on his salt form?

Again, thanks for the response! I've been scouring the internet to find a mechanism for the dreaded "mescaline headache" my poor friend gets, and you in one line made all the pieces fit!

Cheers!

Makes sense to me! You could probably separate it (maybe by pH) but could be at the expense of other alkaloids so personally I would just adhere to a tyramine free diet before and after.
