i took 2.25 g mesc hcl that had been cleaned with dry acetone a few times and did 3x dry ipa washes and evapped, i also didnt wait for it all to settle entirely (there was still particles suspended in the ipa) so the ipa washes had mesc in them thus lightening the total color of the ipa washed xtals)

i didnt get every last drop of ipa out after the washes and instead opted to ad a bit of hot water to the beaker, the solution seemed to separate 1 layer on top (i assume ipa) which was very dark and one layer on the bottom with particles suspended in it and a layer of white sediment on the bottom. i poured everything off the sediment on the bottom and poured the sediment on another portion of my evap plate

i ended up with:

(middle) - 1 pile mesc hcl that dissolved in dry ipa
(left) - 1 pile mesc hcl that dissolved in water after dry ipa washes were done
(right) - 1 pile something that didnt dissolve in either boiling water or boiling ipa

^^ these denote the location in the picture below

wtf is that third pile?

I have seen that insoluble powder before and thats a good question. I am uncertain to what it is, but likely nothing you want to keep. I was speculating it was some strange insolubles that got salted out of d-limo or maybe some suspended minerals from the extraction. I tried tasting a spec of it once and it tasted like sand. :surprised

Its probably some kind of insoluble calcium product from the initial base is my guess. Did you use calcium hydroxide?

yes used naoh and it was assayed today by a friend who said it was active. maybe 150 mgs

naoh/hcl would make nacl, so that would make sense if it was the impurity (salty taste).

Perchance a bit of base made it over in the NP, did you use xylene? IIRC, it can hold a bit of water (forms an azeotrope iirc), and perhaps through that a bit of naoh.

Edit- NVM, it was a "sandy" taste lol. And i guess nacl would be very soluble in hot water, so that doesn't make sense if it didn't dissolve w/ the mesc hcl.

if it was naoh it would freebase the mesc into oil

yes xylene was used

btw my buddy that tried it reported a slight innebriation after eating it and then after it went away he smoked some freebase dmt and was floored, he said he thought it was changa (with maoi) i know for a fact it wasnt since i made it

he is very familliar with dmt and changa and can feel the difference as obvious as night and day. he has different attitudes towards both too. thinking it was just dmt he had a bit of a surprise when it turned out to feel exactly like changa.

me thinks that maybe this mystery powder might have been some inhibiting potentiating compound.

he also mentioned a pressure in his sinus's after he took it....

Wierd... So there is no possibility he was just thinking he was feeling effects knowing he just consumed a substance when really it may have produced no effects?

thats a distinct possibility but it seems unlikely...

could it have been an maoi from cacti? like the supposed effects of t. bridgesii have

Not sure. I would think that if it were a salted maoi, it would be soluble in water, but its not. If its not soluble in water or acetone, then it probably wouldnt be digestable either and would pass right through your system.

Seems like it would be some kind of inorganic compound.. Perhaps it was clumped with some mescaline alks and he felt minor effects from those.

im pretty sure it had some mesc in it, since when i separated it from the pure mesc all i did was pour if off in a different spot :/ but then again i wasnt really trying to isolate it, just sort of happened like that
