Misuse of the term "breakthrough"

Migrated topic.
The last possible answer is a "yes". LOL...the term inflatious...I didn't know that it doesn't exist in the english language, sorry.

Does the term "breakthrough" get used too often and loses value ? Like money during a period of inflation.

To me, the term (psychedelic) breakthrough can have 2 meanings that in 99% of all cases coincide.

1-a sudden change of counsciousness-state.

2-a counsciousness-state in wich psychedelic effects become more dominant than normal sensory perception.

So most of the times this means that your mind suddenly gets soaked with psychedelic effects to such a degree that you experience it as an abrupt change into a different state of being.

The reason why the term might be subject to inflation is that it is not a scientific term and that it is highly subjective.

To me the absolute standard for a psychedelic breakthrough would be, that if you close your eyes, you experience things AS IF THEY'RE REAL. even if they are undescribable and fantastic like no SF movie you've ever seen. When it's dark you see things as if they're realy there with your eyes open.
When your eyes are open and you're in a place where there's light, you can see things that aren't real at moments you don't focus sharply onto something. Most of the times it is possible to focus onto objects sharply and you're able to clearly distinguisj between what's real and what isn't.

..that happens to me EVERY time I take psilocybin mushrooms at the end of the trip when comming down and laying inbed..even I only had like 2 grams..last time I was touring some machine like thing..maybe a spacecraft..with many rooms and it was self-transforming, like the hallways and rooms would just shift around on they're own accord sort of like a rubix cube, it was really high techy...this was like 4 hours after I took the mushrooms at least..I was laying by the campfire all peaceful and next thing I know im having these visions..

This is the reason why so there are always discussions going on about how real the entities are or how real hyperspace is.

So considering the fact that you have so many of those kind of discussions going on, you can safely conclude that the term breakthrough is not thát much subject to inflation.

I came preaty damn close the first time i took moring glories as well come to think of it..I was flying around some desert landscape with spinning pyramids that lookes mayan/egyptian, and there were tons of replicas of my head spinning around and around...freaked me out a bit:? ..it was only with eyes closed though..

Yes, until someone has experienced full DMT immersion, a sub-breakthrough may seem like a full breakthrough.

For me it's simple. It's when I leave this world and find my awareness somewhere else. And I forget about this life. Then I come back and I have to remember this reality again. I come back to it because I've been somewhere else.

For me a "breakthrough" is when i go to a different reality. It is just as real as me sitting at this desk. Even more real somehow ,but very bizzare. It leaves me in awe and even shock. Usually just before, there is a portal you enter and it feels as if you "breakthrough" a membrane.

I know it's a breakthrough when not only the content of the experience changes, but the experiencing apparatus itself, in the most dramatic and unimaginable ways. When things of the mind you've taken so much 100% granted in life that you didn't even paid attention to the possibility of them working in a different way start to do just that.

It seems that most of us more or less agree; when you close your eyes or when you're in a dark place and you experience a completely different reality as if it's totally real, then you have a breakthrough.

In extremely high doses you might even stay in a different reality when you have your eyes wide open in a light place, although the nature of the experience differs when you have no visual stimuli.

"In extremely high doses you might even stay in a different reality when you have your eyes wide open in a light place, although the nature of the experience differs when you have no visual stimuli"...

I had that happen even while walking around at night on the beachona real high dose psilocybin trip once..reality was literlly bending in on itslef, I could see the grids that make up reality and they were like vibrating honeycomb..parts were swirling around and I though reality was actaully going to flip inside out at one point..at the peak the buzzing carrier wave took over while walking though the trees and it was creating everything I saw..I couldnt make out reality through the visions anymore and had to basicaly fall down and lay there.

With DMT I have gone real deep like that as well..where all I could see was vibrating white and golden light with geometric spirals with open eyes in a lit room..but the carrier wave sometimes isnt even there and has never been as strong as it was that night on mushrooms.

Other times with DMT I have passed through the membrane and ended up in the weirdest places, but could still open my eyes and make out reality if I had to..once I was in an alien spacecraft, and there was one single alien occupant in there who was working on some cumputer board and came over to look at me, I looked out the wondow and saw space, and what looked like a nearby space station..for some reason I opened my eyes and my room was just vibrating and swirling around..but I could still see it and make out my orientation..

Yeah, i know what you mean. It's fantastic if you can just be out in nature and have these visions at the same time. It's the root of what indians call vision quest. It's like a psychedelic pelgrimage.

I believe i've seen those same 'vibrating honeycomb parts', as you call them.

There is a difference between open eyes and closed eyes or darkness. The absence of visual stimuli creates an automatic response in the brain. The brain starts to generate significantly more alpha and theta waves. Especially when you're on psychedelics, this effect is very noticeable. When you're on a high dose of shrooms, DMT or mescalin, when you've broken through into hyperspace dimension, the effect of this shift in brain activity is extremely powerfull and instantaneous.
it's literally a difference between day and night.
You might notice for instance, that also hyperspace sounds become drasticly more intense when you close your eyes.
