My biggest mushroom yet and how I pulled it off 😎

NeitherHere

Going where life takes me.
Donator
A mislabeled cubensis I hadn't grown yet.

I decided to switch from bulk tubs to bags because the tubs were giving me absolute hell and just stopped working all together.

If I recall right my combination was(will update tomorrow afternoon if my notes on the bags are different) :

2 qt coir
1 qt black kow manure
2 qt water

2h @ 160*f internal temperature 🌡️

This mushroom is a second flush. The first flush was easily an ounce of smaller to 'nornal" size cubenais fungi.

The experience was noticably more blast off like than my usual fungi grown in straight grain and coir. My grain of choice was wild bird seed.

Avg ambient temperature 75-78° f
The dehydrator sits one shelf below causing a very slight warm draft. After the first flush the bags are cut from side to side along the back face (without the patch) after harvest the bags are slightly folder over to restrict airflow without stopping it all together. This seems to do well with returning ambient humidity back into the 70%+ range although I'm considering using masking tape and leaving a 30mm slit for increased fae.

I've grown these fungi off and on for years and this is a monumental win for me. Usually I have to use my "medicine" sparingly but this methodology has me set for the foreseeable future 🤘😁

Thanks for the motivation!

My lazy ass still resists growing mushrooms, even though I know it's good for me.
Hopefully, I'll get past it and start this awesome hobby. What a grace to grow your own medicine!

All the best to you. Please report back on how this giant treated you.

🙏
I don't wanna make this weird but I'll "hold your hand" through your first steps if you'd like friend <3

That's a big boy! What strain is it?
I honestly couldn't possibly say. I have several cultures I haven't grown out and this one somehow got mislabeled and ran. Honestly can't even say for sure it's not a natalensis because it almost doesn't really look like any cubes I've grown aside from the aggressive blueing and maybe coloration.

I'm probably gonna give it an personal identifier like my tampanensis culture I've had on plates since 22 ("pt22")

The first flush was a rush. I didn't get much visual but it was pretty high energy and worked well for the psych reset. It felt almost like a 6+ hour blast off. Can't recall how much I used I think it was 2.5g dry.

This fruit should be just about 9g dry and after cloning will probably be made into chamoy and Chile gummies

Update; after my weight in this evening the bags have produced apx 1.1dry oz each (not including the monster I posted above)

I hedged my odds in hopes that one single bag would succeed and now I'm not even sure how I'm gonna manage to use as much as these bags produced. I should have switched to bags years ago.

My next test will be with sclerotia, I've got a good feeling this "tek" and the bags could make for some absolute boulders 😁

Such a beauty. Please share the journey if and when?
I'm sure I'll do a write up when the time comes. I've been taking sub .3g doses regularly lately for my health. .3 seems to be putting me on the edge of "whoa I can't FEEL it" this culture has been one of the stronger ones I've encountered over the years. Not so much visually active but Its definitely strong.

I'm hoping to process an ounce into a shelf stable tincture for ease of dosing and conceal ability I'm just not sure how I would pull it off. Gummies are an option but much easier to have an accidental exposure should someone raid my sweets so that's a grey zone option. I'm thinking I'll make them incredibly sour or with chamoy and Chile powder and store them in a safe to prevent unwanted dosing by unsuspecting individuals who might stumble upon my stash
