My first lucid dream report.

So after my curious string of lucid dreams and my decision to get "ask yourself, is this a dream?" tattooed on my wrists, I did a bunch of reading into the lucid dream phenomenon. I learned that taking vitamin B6 and melatonin before bed can drastically increase dream activity. It's also theorized that it can help you become lucid. So I bought myself the highest concentrated B6 and melotonin I could find and spent the whole day doing reality checks. I had no idea that it would work so fast. I was sure it would take at least a few weeks of reality checks to remember to do it in a dream. The past two nights in a row, however, I achieved lucidity. These are the reports of those dreams.

The first night, the dream was sort of trivial in the sense that nothing significantly cool happened. I was walking through an environment that kind of looked like Marineland; some sort of theme park. I met with two girls who invited me to walk with them. It was at this point that I looked at my wrists. The letters of my tattoo were all scrambled. "YES!" I thought "it worked!". The first thing I did was ask one of the girls what it felt like to be a dream character and she deflected the question by changing the subject, just as I expected her to. I don't remember much of the conversation but the dream took a sexual turn. Not the best way to make use of an oppurtunity like that, but can you blame me? That's about where the dream shifted into another dream for which I was not lucid. I was completely blown away by how effective the tattoo is and how fast it became useful. Unreal. But that was nothing compared to the next night.

My second dream took place in a yellowish dingy lit house in which I was apparently living. I was sitting in an upstairs bedroom. My girlfriend was sitting to my right and my dad to my left. We were playing with our cats. 6 cats in total. My dad went to go downstairs and Kitty, my oldest cat followed him. I said to Sara "he's so nice and Kitty like's him." Then my dad returned with a whole bunch more cats I didn't recognize. "Great! More cats to play with" I thought. I was having fun petting and playing when all of a sudden three very young kittens appeared before me. I was thrilled until again, very suddenly, a very ugly looking baby bird appeared in the cuddle puddle of cats and kittens. It was all naked and wrinkly. I was startled. Then, another ugly baby bird appeared. Then another. I started to become very frightened and began to panic. I looked at my wrists and I had no tattoos. A wave of joy and relief washed over me as I realized I was dreaming. "It's okay, It's just a dream" I said to Sara. Then for fun, I back handed her and my dad in the face. My dad looked at me and said "kiss me". "Fuck you!" I replied jokingly, laughing at the hilarity of the situation. It was time to explore my dream. This is when things get interesting. I went into to the hallway of which the floors were covered with broken pieces of wood panelling. It was as if the house was being renovated and then abandoned part way through the job. A particularly large strip of wood began to hover above the ground about 6 feet away from me. I knew it was coming for me. I put my hands out in front of me and tried to stop it with my mind. No luck there. I dodged the wooden missle as it whirred by me. I continued walking. Another piece of wood rose from the ground and came right at me. I tried again with every ounce of me to stop it mid flight but this one hit me right in the chest. I kept walking. I started trying to recall things from my waking life, thinking it would increase the lucidity of the dream. "I work at the Ontario Conservatory of Music, I'm 23 years old, I drive a car" I thought to myself, trying to gain control. It didn't work, it actually woke me up. I lept out of bed and started feverishly writing the dream down before I forgot anything. I hope that with enough practice I'll be able to stop the pieces of wood. Fuckin' Matrix style. There were more quirky things that happened in other unrelated, non-lucid dreams but I doubt anyone has read even this much so I will leave it it that.

I'm going to continue with the vitamin B6 and melatonin for two more nights and then stop for awhile. I guess it's not good to take too much of it. I'll post again if there's anything worth writing. Thank you for reading!
 
I'm just getting into lucid dreams too.

I have only achieved lucidity from DILD but apparently that is the least reliable way to do it. Anyway I'll look into MILD, WILD, WBTB sometimes soon.

Anyway I've had I think 5 fully lucid dreams when I held the state for at least 4-5 minutes and a good 10 more that were semi-lucid lasting less than 2 minutes and ofter waking immediately after "figuring it out"

The very first one I looked at myself in the mirror and I had shaggy hair despite JUST getting a significant haircut in real life. I was really nervous and did somewhat of a "secret agent escape" from the building I was in. It was night and I jumped from building to building when I came upon a playground where a cute young lady was swinging. I tried to asked her what she thought about being a dream character and just as I started she was like "Why do you always ask such weird questions?"

After that I figured I'd try something sexual but as I tried to remove her clothes she didn't like it and since I've never forced sex upon a woman I was very stressed out and as I thought about the morality behind this VS doing it in real life *bing* woke up

Lucid dreaming is really weird and so so real. Sometimes the dreams I have are vague and very foggy but all the lucid dreams that I've had were super clear and very real and very psychedelic.

interesting you mention B6 and melatonin. Never got significant effects on dreams from either of those but I have got various effects from many different chemicals and herbs.

GHB - makes dreams generally longer/more adventurous but less "real" Seems to alter the dream sobriety quite a bit.
Damaina - Effects dreams, not tested much
Wormwood - Similar to Damaina
Harmaline/Syrian rue - Longer and more detailed dreams. Not tested much

That's all I can remember on the spot but also the sleep 24+ hours after any tryptamine or phenethylamine (the second sleep after) is always very different and very trippy compared to sober dreams. These are what I have experienced, haven't confirmed any of these with other peopel.
 
I think that the consumption of any given supplement isn't enough alone to make you lucid.. Reliably anyways.. I think that doing the constant reality checks, training yourself to question your surroundings combined with these supplements are the recipe for real fun. I think that's the key. It's only been two nights but these tattoos worked like a charm both nights. I don't think I could find the stuff you mentioned at a drug store but I am having great luck so far with the B6 melatonin combo. I'll link you to the page with the B6 info if you're interested.
 
This is really cool. I think i might get a tattoo like that on my inner arms as well, that is an awesome idea! But before all that i gotta work on my dream recall. Does being lucid in you're dream increase recall?

Australian aboriginals did shaman work through their dreams. I believe dreams are another vehicle to explore hyperspace, or more a space adjacent to hyperspace.

another herb to add to q21's list would be Calea Zacatechichi . i have only read reports on erowid; I have never tried it but it sounds very interesting.
 
Lucidity does seem to have an affect on dream recall. B6 apparently does too at doses high enough to induce sensory neuropathy. I definitely share your hyperspace theory as applied to dreams. It's 5:20 am and I just woke up randomly. No dreams yet. I'm going back to sleep though. I took more B6 and melatonin than before so I'm hoping for something...

That is a key to improve recall, yup. I no longer do this because it became cumbersome to spend up to 30 minutes writing volumes of dreams down, but it was invaluable for me when I first started down this road.

Another little thing that works in a similar vain is to stay still once you wake up and if you can remember what position you were in (if you have moved at all) to get back in that position. I have no idea why this works, but it sure seems to improve dream recall. Both this and the writing are important because if you wait too long the dreams can fade easily and then you may have to rely on random things triggering a memory of the dream.
 
getting tattoos to remind yourself if you are conscious or not is a genious idea.

i might do something similar to a tattoo to help me become lucid in my dreams because i'm having a real hard time doing it
 
I've been trying the rubberband tek, thanks joedirt, and my dreams have gotten me a step closer, but still not lucid. strange strange things. Animals left and right as of late. A cheetah, and eagle, and 2 winged lions fighting, all in one dream, a few nights later many many owls calling my attention as they flew over me and surrounded me in the woods.

The other night I jumped in a pool, (in my dream) while sinking down I began to astral project, and thought, oh wait, no, wrong time, I can't do this while I'm in the water, I might not breathe. This has started happening a few times now. Laying on a couch, in a dream, I begin to slip out of my body very quickly, and I'm like no wait, I need that thing. lol.

After that I figured I'd try something sexual but as I tried to remove her clothes she didn't like it and since I've never forced sex upon a woman I was very stressed out and as I thought about the morality behind this VS doing it in real life *bing* woke up

reminds me of a similar situation recently, things were getting kinky in one locale or another, and I was about to commit to some questionable acts, and before doing so, became very lucid like whoa, that's not me, and bam, woke up.

Another occasion I was being questions by these two lawyer/DA types. After a while they asked 'what I thought', I was confused, I knew something was amiss, and I felt like they were agents deceiving me. They pulled out a little tape recorder with a red light, indicating that the whole conversation had been recorded, and asked again, what I thought, of them. I was angry and baffled, and woke up very quickly.

I have many strange dreams. Writing them down always takes longer than 30 minutes. It's a chore trying to describe places that it seems you only saw in a foggy mirror.

I really want to be able to do this though. I honestly can't imagine asking someone how it feels to be a dream character, why not say the same thing to someone in real life, lol. I'm madly vain, I'd probably ask what they thought of me, why they were in my dream.

The wooden planks are interesting, I presume they frightened you a bit?
Do you think it was possible to "ignore" them? By which i mean, to resist them. You see them, and just let hem fly straight through you, or even hit you, and don't care about it.

My dream 3 days ago: I had was chased by a brown bear in my own house. I was scared, one hit from a bear and bye bye skull, so i ran to my room and locked it > I woke up.

Next time I see the bear, i want to fight it. I know i'll win...

Edit* Q21Q21 : In my beliefs GHB doesn't let my mind go asleep/out of focus. I take a sip, go to bed, and after 5 hours i am awake and got tons of energy. But it never felt like sleeping, it feels like i just spend 5hours waiting to wake up :p tho not feeling bored in the meantime.

All of this makes me wonder if we have multiple layers of being "awake" and concious.
 
It's insane that I just had a crazy lucid dream last night! I've been able to have lucid dreams every now and then for a few years now but i've always had really good dream recall ever since I was a child. i love lucid dreaming :)

In my very first lucid dream, I was driving my car in my dream, but the car wasn't MY car in this reality. It was a totally different car in the dream and for some reason, in the dream, I realized this and thought to myself, "THIS ISN'T MY CAR." So I kind of freaked out a little and then I realized it was a dream. So i was like, "hmm.. if this isn't a dream, then i could do whatever the eff i want" So i started driving all crazy. I made a U-turn onto incoming traffic. HAHA. Now that I think of it, what if it wasn't a dream? haha that would suck.. but anyway, I didn't get hurt at all.. so I stopped the car and got out and ran out.. and I started to run REALLY fast on the side of the freeway.. it was soo exhilarating! and then the dream scene kind of turned into a grassy field with hills all around and I started to jump really high up and down. So fun!

and so yeah.. that was the first of many.

There are actually lots of methods to start lucid dreaming.. most of my lucid dreams were from doing the WBTB (wake-back-to-bed) method. This is where you sleep for about 5-6hrs. wake up by an alarm clock or something. then wake yourself up, get up, stretch a bit, walk around for like about 10mins while really thinking in your head, "i'm gonna lucid dream, I'm gonna lucid dream!" haha. and then you go back to bed. Supposedly, REM sleep is when you remember dreams the most, so if you wake up during that time then fall back asleep w/ the mindset of lucid dreaming then you'll fall right back into REM sleep and hopefully become fully conscious or at least remember better, since you were just awake earlier.

Another method that has been working for me lately has been the WILD (Wake-Initiated Lucid Dreams) technique. This is where you go from waking state to dreaming state undisturbed. it's crazy to go through. because to me.. one minute i'm lying in bed and through a process of relaxation, sleep paralysis, and hypnagogic imagery, the dream state setting seems to construct itself around me.. so when i open my eyes again.. my dream eyes open and i'm somewhere else! and i know for sure the other me is sleeping in bed.

if they say that dmt is naturally produced every night when you sleep, i wonder if i get to witness the release of dmt naturally, fully conscious when i go through this WILD technique to have a lucid dream!


and PS. the smiling eyes, your tattoo idea is really great! sometimes it's really hard for me to do a RC in a dream, having that reminder on your wrists must be really helpful!
