The Rhythmic Dúnedain
So I had my first real lucid dream today. I mean I had made the distinction before that I have been in a dream but I always wake up right after I do so, this was different. I was in my ex-stepdad's house and it was a nice summer day. I walked down the stairs into the basement to inspect a paint job (i had been painting that house recently) and realized that something was reaaaaally wrong with the paint. I walked into another room and the paint was the same in that room. At this point i said to myself "hey I'm dreaming" and immediately the colors started to run together and fade away. I then remembered a tip I had learned from lucidipedia that said if you rub your fingers together when things start to fade this sensory input will sharpen everything and bring the dream back, and sure enough it did just that. I now walked back down the hall which corrected itself from what it had been and rebuilt itself correctly from my memory which was really cool. I then walked up the stairs and outside and decided it was time to learn to fly. I went outside and immediately jumped into the air and started to float. I floated over a house on the other side of the street and began running and levitating myself from house to house, which was a lot harder than I expected and I had a really hard time not flying clumsily and directing myself was hard also. I went about a block down the street on top of houses and when I was a few houses down the next block I decided I would go check out my old house which was just a few blocks away (it was crazy how exact all the houses were from my memory). When i did this gravity got all screwed up and it was very hard to direct my flying(more so than before). Right as this problem happen the "Everyone knows, fun rules" guy from waking life showed up and told me I should try flying in superman position, which honestly wasn't any easier. After floating around a house for a while and trying to direct myself around it by holding onto the gutters (I now know how astronauts feel with having to deal with zero gravity) i decided I would try walking since I was in my old neighborhood and knew exactly where I was. When I managed to make it to the ground my legs became ridiculously heavy and it took a huge amount of effort just to move them, also it felt like gravity was pulling me sideways. After taking a few steps I woke up. This dream has me really excited to start getting lucid dreaming down now that I have a way to hold on to the dream. Any tips out there on how to fly better? Or maybe just how to control the dream environment better? I know if I keep practicing it will be easy but I want to learn fast. Thoughts?
