My First Rue Extraction

Migrated topic.

Hi Nexii
After two weeks I just finished my first extraction of Syrian Rue.
I just wanted to post a picture because for a first timer I think it worked out great.
I followed this Gordo-TEK
, except that I pressure cooked the seeds and didn't bother with the whole cooler and hot water thing to grow the crystals, I just put them in the fridge.
My yield was 830mg from 100g of seeds so pretty on target I believe.
Anyway that's all I have to say today :)

0.83% yield is nearly 1/5th of expected yield. (at the very least)
Can do better.

P.S.
Yield looks pure though, this is good.

Actually yes looking back you are correct. I thought the video showed a weight of 2.4g
but it was 2.4% w/w.

It is very pure though, it looks and tastes identical to some I purchased.

:)

There were so many unnecessary steps in that video which is probably why you didn't get the best yield. Also I'm not sure how I feel about these YouTube exctractions.

Which steps can be missed out please?

IMHO the only equipment needed for a rue extraction is a pot, jar, turkey baster, and coffee filters - no sketchy looking homemade lab equipment required. Also grinding and filtering isn't necessary. You can do gibran's tek on unground rue (using sodium carbonate instead of lye even) and manske until it's as pure as you want it.

To be honest I'm not seeing masses of differences, lots of filtering and cleaning but maybe I'll try it next time.
I wanted to add that after the initial boil and I had 8g of Alkaloids from 100g of Rue seeds which looks about spot on, but by the end only 0.8g so I lost 90% somewhere thinking about it.
During my extraction I didn't get any crystals growing after the first Manske, I found that white solids were forming in the salt solution.
After I filtered them out with a coffee filter I put the whole filter into warm water to redesolve all of the white "gunk" and added salt to the mix and cooled again.
I did this 5 times and then dissolved in vinegar and precipitated with sodium carbonate.
I'm wondering if something went wrong with the Manske part due to no crystals forming.
Anybody got any thoughts?
