My half-baked, amateur compositions

Heya,

In this thread I intend on sharing, as the title suggest, my half-baked and very amateur compositions and pieces, most of whom will be short (mostly because I have difficulty working on a longer piece). I intend this thread to be one part a place where I can put stuff online, and another part a place where I can gather feedback and opinions from, so I can learn and become better in composing music.

Expect things to sound messy, unbalanced, poorly mixed and muddy. Mixing and mastering are things that take years to get the proper hang of. I do appreciate if you decide to listen and give feedback, though!

And to kick this off, here's a very short kinda epic-y thing I conjured over a few days. Enjoy!

That was awesome Nydex, great work. Through my weak Macbook speakers I am impressed. I'm sure if I listen through some of my better gear I'll notice the lack of mastering. Look forward to hearing more.

Thank you both for the kind words! I frequently listen to Hans Zimmer's work and consider him very inspiring, and every time I analyze what he's done in a specific composition, I realize what an impassable chasm stands between my knowledge and talent, and his. It's phenomenal what this man has done over the years. If I ever get even 10% as good as he is, I'll be happy.

Here are a few honest observations:
It sounds decent enough, maybe rather generic such that I'm guessing that maybe you're still at the stage of using some of the presets? Productionwise, it's sounding reasonably rounded although the master level seems lower than average [admittedly the way my device outputs from Nexus uploads compared with radio streaming apps hasn't been calibrated]. Getting a really beefy sound is a learning process that I've struggled with myself, so I'm looking forward to hearing how it progresses for you in this field. Keep it up, and work towards finding 'your' sound!

Thank you for the constructive feedback! It's definitely a learning process, and finding my own sound will probably take quite a long time. But I like playing around with music. It's a good hobby that can potentially turn profitable at some point if I decide to.

ha ha , @Transform , seems like you are doing Music as well ! i do too . I used to be be a pro Guitarist for a good part of my life ... I'm still playing and doing things but i don't make a living anymore ... I got into Mixing and Mastering about 10 years ago and it requires very different skills than playing ! I suppose @Nydex , you're not into that yet . Today , it has to be LOUD but keep doing your thing and try to tweak a bit your orchestral banks , this way you will find your own sound ... There are so many things to master in Music , you can easily get lost , and it's good to know that you cannot do everything by yourself imho ...
