Just like many things, especially DMT, it gets more complicated the deeper explore it. Trying to explain it in basic human language with certainty in my experience is close to impossible. But it's fun to speculate, just be ready to change you speculations at many points if you decide to dig deeper. Good ol saying is that it gives more questions than answers

Why state it like it's a fact?:? I've heard speculations about DMT being released during dreaming etc. but this one is weirdest of them all
