My introduction essay

Migrated topic.

Rising Star
Hello everyone. My goodness, it's hard to know where to start. Experience? Intentions? Perceptions?

Let's start with experience and I'm sure I'll get into everything else that's worth knowing. I am a lone traveler. No one introduced me to DMT; I found it for myself. I was always drawn to psychedelics. Sadly I moved away from my fellow psychonauts in 2001, but I still yearned to find something more rewarding than a simple mushroom or acid trip. Not to imply that I was a regular tripper... Over the course of my 4 years of recreational drug use I might have ingested 2 ounces of mushrooms and 40 hits of acid. It was all good stuff and quite enlightening.

My first DMT extraction was in 2005. I achieved huge success using Marsofold's Tek (with optional defatting) as posted on the old DMT World. I still have some spice left from the original extraction. Incidentally, within the last few weeks I discovered that it is still incredibly active. I figure I had at least 10 strong breakthroughs within a few months of the extraction. One of the last breakthroughs came near Christmas of 2005. I had a plane to catch and I thought to myself, "I have time. 1 hour for a quick DMT trip and then I have to go." One cannot schedule DMT like I did. One should not make an appointment for it on one's calendar. My trip that time was quite powerful despite taking the same amount I had taken many times before. I got the distinct impression that the DMT spirits were not fond of my lack of respect. The trip was incredibly terrifying.

Now, you might expect an explanation of what constitutes "incredibly terrifying." But I can't give you one. That's one of the strangest things about DMT. The few times I didn't break through, I could explain the trip. "Oh sure, there are some crazy visuals and fractals." But when I break through (no matter whether it's a good trip or a bad one), all I can remember is that it was a profound experience. I have very vague memories. For example, my last trip I remember a pharaoh (which, by the way, is one of my clearest recollections of all my breakthroughs). I can always remember the general "feel" of the trip (i.e. good or bad). But not much else. I assume my feeble mind is far too weak to even begin to grasp what it's encountering.

After the bad trip, I was brave enough to try DMT again a couple times over the next few weeks (both good experiences). But then for some reason I don't fully understand, I put the DMT away and didn't touch it again until recently.

My justification for bringing DMT back into my life was simple. My #1 psychonaut friend from back in the day is getting married. Instead of a traditional stripper-filled bachelor party, he wants a multi-day raft trip. He was always curious about DMT, so I decided that I would once again summon the Marsofold Tek and introduce her to my friends on the raft trip. I've extracted about a pound of MHRB, with another pound ready to go. Although I haven't tried any of my latest extraction, I found my 5-year-old spice and took it for another spin, for old-times sake. It's still very active, albeit more harsh. Still powerful enough to breakthrough.

Last weekend I went to see another old friend who unfortunately won't be attending the raft trip. I brought the 5-year-old spice for him to try. He would have been the first person I had ever introduced to DMT. But when I tried to explain DMT to him, he decided against trying it. My explanation frightened him. One thing this conversation taught me is that it is impossible to explain DMT. At the same time, I can't say I mislead him or gave him any incorrect information. I believe my exact words were "unless you're prepared for a completely different reality, you probably shouldn't try it."

Was this wording too harsh? How can you explain DMT to someone who has never tried it before? For the raft trip, I intend to bring printouts with experiences, quotes, the Marsofold Tek instructions, etc. from this site and others as reading material for my friends. After all, knowing is half the battle. ;-) But do any of you have any other suggestions? I might even send some of them a link to The Spirit Molecule.

-------------------

Since I'm obviously a beginner here, I figured it would be worth noting a few things in hopes of discovering better ideas...

First, I smoke DMT. Never ingested it or anything else. My smoking apparatus is a clear light bulb with socket removed (and it includes a pen shaft to suck the vapor through... I know, it's ghetto). I find this to be the easiest way to gauge the trip since I don't have a ridiculously accurate scale. Sprinkling the spice over parsley or whatever seems like it would be more difficult. With a clear light bulb, I can see the vapor start to swirl and I know when to start sucking.

As is obvious from my above essay, I've only ever smoked DMT alone. Now that I *might* be sharing it with several people, what would be a good environment for introducing newbies to DMT? Would an environment of "several people sitting around a campfire" be appropriate? My intuition is that I should take one person away from the group at a time and let them try it in relative seclusion (except for me being there in a supervisory role).

Well folks, that's me. I just want to say that I appreciate this community already, even without interacting with it. You are all very kind, generous, and more than anything, responsible. I appreciate everything that has already been posted here (yes, I am a longtime reader). Thank you.

Hello dsticker,

What a wonderful introduction! You strike me as a kind, compassionate and humble person. As you made such a good impression, I have awarded you a full membership. I am looking forward to read your posts, and I hope you will enjoy your stay here!

With love,
Evening Glory

Greetings, thank you as well for your contribution; I think EG made a good choice in granting you membership privileges. I don't think your wording is too harsh; personally, like you (and most who've inhaled spice vapour on multiple occasions, I've had the most beautiful, heavenly, divine, "gotta remember this" (but never can quite remember that *special quality*) experiences of my life with Spice, and also had hands-down the most frightening experiences of my life with Spice. Better to sufficiently warn someone, but of course there's no reason to hide the beauty of it, since Hyperspace seems to give the partaker what s/he needs at the time. Printing out experience reports and referring people to Strassman's work (or at least becoming familiar with it and describing it to them) should be good. I believe Nick Sand's two essays on smoking DMT are also excellent resources; he does a marvelous job in evoking the beauty of Spice. The essays are available at: Nick Sand (scroll down to "Moving into the Sacred World of DMT").

I think day-time tryps might be more appropriate for first time Spice partakers. The Sun-light's beauty simply can't be beat; from my experience, save the fires for mushrooms and LSD (then again traditional ayahuasca ceremonies occur at night). By the river, in the beautiful daylight, with beloved friends, after being well-informed...I bet this would be a great way to introduce interested friends to Spice, look forward to hearing how it goes...

Many thanks for the full member status, Evening Glory.

Hello lysergify, nice to meet you. I'm sure I've read about Nick Sand before, but this is the first time I've read any of his writing. Will definitely be printing out those essays. Good idea sticking with day-time trips. That will hopefully make my friends feel more at ease. Thanks for the advice, I'll be sure to let you know how it goes.

Welcome to the Nexus, dsticker! It sounds like you're a loyal and thoughtful friend, someone great to have around. Can't wait to hear the reports after the bachelor party!

yeah sometimes when i tell someone about spice i kinda scare them off too. but now that i think about it, it just helps separate the casual and intrepid. some people should simply stay very far away psychedelics let alone DMT. your experience depends on what you want out of it.

Welcome d-sticker. If you are attending a bachelor party where all neophytes are interested or at least tolerant of psychedelics, you are truly lucky. I would be worried of whistle blowers myself, or at the very least being judged or labelled. Be careful. Not everyone is as tolerant and curious as they seem.

Good luck and good rafting/launching!
