I recently gave a TEDx talk 'From Egoism to Egoism: Psychedelics and Nature Connection' at a TEDxOxford 2019 event on the capacity of psychedelics to increase human-nature connection, and the implications this has for human wellbeing, as well as the wellbeing of the biosphere at large (human-nature connection is strongly correlated with wellbeing, and also is a strong predictor of pro-environmental attitudes and behaviour). This isn't one of my best talks...the day of the TEDx was definitely one of the most stressful of my life thus far, the cortisol was really flowing! Hopefully I succeeded in getting the message I was trying to across. I thought it may be of interest to some Nexians. :)

That was a very enjoyable talk man! I always feel admiration and gratitude towards people that spread awareness of the infinite benefits and consciousness expansion capabilities of psychedelics to the general public, serving as an alarm clock that is getting louder and louder, leading to the moment of awakening of that destructive slumber so many people have fallen in.

And don't let yourself feel down because some people give you shit in the comments. Yes, you were nervous, but your points came across and your message was loud and clear. None of them hating people would perform even half as good as you did.

You rock man. Much love!

Nydex nailed it lol!

Thanks for sharing, don't ever stop posting these talks and as always keep up the good work that you're doing out there friend!

I know exactly what you mean. We need to be part of something bigger. Without this connection we are lost. Set to destroy ourselves. Wich is exactly what we are doing at the moment.

To be honest, i think chances are 50/50 that we are not going to make it. That shouldn't stop us from trying though. But it doesn't look good. The paris treaty was already a pretty weak compromise between what is needed and what is politically doable. And all the promisses made are already being broken.

I think these are dark days. It is probably not going to end well.

Thank you for sharing! It is definitely very interesting and I believe it is as described. I myself felt the connection with Nature thanks to the mushrooms. I will share it with other people.

Good speech I think the cautious use of psychedelics will be able to get people to look out of their view and enlarge it. I think if humanity gets down to business and focuses on our environment we can solve our problems. I feel like humanity is a kid in high school that has a homework assignment that its been putting off for far to long.

Thank you peeps for the good vibes, I'm glad the message I was trying to get across resonated.

dragonrider, I think it was Terrence McKenna said it would be a photo finish regarding whether humanity can prevent its own annihilation, and that of a lot of other life, or save ourselves, and it...or something like that. We've definitely inflicted and are inflicting a lot of damage upon life on this planet and the systems that are underpin it, and despite being a person of a positive and optimist disposition for the most part, the ecologist in me fears there is worse to come. It isn't too late though to change things, but I feel this change will depend on part on increase human-nature connection and consciousness change to help facilitate this.

Loveall, that y-axis on that graph was a measure of nature relatedness (NR) which can be considered analogous to nature connection, or the degree to which one values, and feels connected to and a part of nature. It is assessed via a qualitative survey, in this case pre and post psychedelic experience (in particular before, immediately after, and then again 2 and 4 weeks later). The NR-6 was used in the survey study I referenced which has 6 items.
