Amazing TED talk with Eben Bayer on the facilities, techniques, and benefits of using mycelium for packaging materials.

This NEEDS to replace polystyrenes, etc. and fast! You can decompose it in your backyard when you're done with it!!!

It's a million steps forward from where we are now, but even still.. it seems a little profane to use the mycellium as freaking plastic.

But for real, it'd be a definite improvement.

This is so cool! I really look forward to see when and how this or a similar technique will be applied. Unfortunately it's large money in plastic, so the industry will for sure work against this project. I therefore seriously hope people wake up to the reality that plastic is destroying our earth!

It's pretty much just packing material as far as I know. So basically just replacing styrafoam. They kind of mislead you with the plastic stuff.
