Rising Star
Wow, I can't believe I didn't know about this forum. I've been a member of several entheogenic forums around the web and I thought I've known about most of them, at least the major ones. I was a member of DMT World back in the day. After it shut down I remember checking it regularly to see if the forum would ever come back online which it never did. Perhaps this is the reincarnation of it? I don't remember for sure, but I believe I was linked here from the entheology.org forums (entheo-worldeyes).

A little about myself. I'm a chemistry major with a focus on biochemistry. I chose this route after being facinated by the world of entheogens and their neurochemical application as well as being a possible missing link of the metaphysical (mind) and physical (brain) in psychiatric therapy. Of course, just as psychoanalysis looks down upon quicker an easier methods of therapy I'm sure it's in a psychiatrists best interest to see that more efficient medicines stay out of the hands of people. My goal is to eventually work in the neurochemistry field of research and development. I really like the work that Shulgin has done. I could call him my inspiration in some ways.

One of my hobbies is to grow legal entheogenic plants and just ethnobotanicals in gerneral. Recently, this hobby has come under threat as we see injustice in the arrests of several law abiding business owners and the criminalization of salvia growers. My state has had a bill in the works for a long time that would add salvia to the schedule II list.

My journey into the world of entheogens started about 8 years ago. I was a musician, intellectual, computer geek that was just comming out of my teenage angst stage and I had just obtained a digital copy of the Anarchist's Cookbook. Of course there is plenty of misinformation on there, but I thought it funny that they were claiming something as simple as a bannana peel could get you high. Up to this point I had been mostly a "drugfree" person besides the occasional cigar, beer, and almost dying from caffiene overdose. Still, without intent to ever take "drugs", I checked the internet for any information backing this claim up. I found, on some forum, a user claiming to be a doctor posted a very long list of legal highs and whether they really worked or not. Of course the bannana peel thing was debunked on this list, but I noticed lots of other things that were readily available to me were confirmed as legal highs. Morning glory seeds were on there listed as "very active". This made me even more interested while starting to question the established legality of other drugs. I needed to know more.

I ran another internet search looking for information as morning glory seeds as a legal high. Of course, this is where I discover erowid.org. After reading several of the trip reports about morning glory seeds I was astounded that something as simple as a common garden flowering plant's seeds could do such a thing to you. The experiences described seemed right up my ally. An introspective look into the workings of the mind and the nature of the sensory/epistemological complex. After reading everything I could about morning glory seeds I decided I should give it a try. I felt I needed the experience!

After having one of the most memorable experiences of my life, I was changed in a great way. Permanent after-effects from a drug, but good ones that I'm glad I've obtained. From there I became more interested in entheogens in general. After learning much about all of them and trying several, I learned about a certain author called Terence McKenna; the master of romanticizing the DMT experience.

From there it was just gathering knowledge. This knowledge in turn affected the choices I made in life and here I am today. I'm looking forward to contributing to this community as well as sharing what I've gathered.

Hi Shadouts,

Welcome to the Nexus! Please bear with me as I tease someone interested in psychiatry . . . I loved your Freudian slip . . .

As you know, many journeyers refer to visionary plants as their ally or allies.

Gave me a good smile.

Again welcome!
