New John Frusciante Album

I'm a huge John Frusciante fan, all of his music amazes me. This album seems to come out of left field, more like To Record Water For Only Ten Days than anything else he has done.

I really enjoy this album just wanted to see what others think.

Hey Frusciante - it's awesome to see another Frusciante fan here! (That was weird to type...)

After I heard the Letur-Lefr EP I had all my expectations blown away. He's on a completely different trip than when he did The Empyrean, but that's not a bad thing at all. Personally I love the direction he's going with his electronic experimentation.

I haven't got my copy of PBX Funicular Intaglio Zone yet (It's in the mail - HURRY UP!!!) so I can't really comment on it. But if it's anything like To Record Water I am stoked. That still remains one of my favorites of all his stuff. The dude is a musical genius - and the things he sings about continuously make me think harder and harder and harder......

He doesn't really do too many long instrumentals like that song on his records, that's really the only example I could think of. There is a project he did called Ataxia with Klinghoffer and the bassist from Fugazi that has some stretched out guitar solo's like that though, and it's pretty amazing stuff.

Also the solo in "Look On" is probably my all time favorite from Frusciante, but the rest of the song isn't really like the one you posted.

I love his first few albums, though The Will To Death and Curtains are my absolute favorite. I love how you can hear him evolve through his music, from the raspy just plain bizarre Niandra La Des when he was just totally strung out, into this wise and intelligent sober sweet sound. I seriously feel like he is the greatest musician of our time, the fact that on most of his albums he is the entire band blows my mind.

John Frusciante just released a 10 minute solo for free on his site (JOHN FRUSCIANTE) in memory of his friend's passing. The song is called "Wayne" and I highly recommend it.
