New member introduction and research q's - tryptophan and negative research list

Hi there.

I'm new to the forums. So this is my introductory post. I've read through the guidelines, but if I slip up and phrase something wrong I apologize in advance. New to this world, I've only tried Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds so far.

I have a lab background and am interested in getting into some of the research endeavors, particularly in finding other alternative, more readily available plants to extract from so I can finally try it but I have two questions: (I swear I've looked through the forums already and didn't find it, if I just didn't look hard enough I'm sorry, please just direct me there)

1) is there a master list somewhere of all the negative data people have gathered, all the plants that DON'T contain substantial quantities of the molecule in question? For example, I'm interested in experimenting with extracting from/testing common pea species as they're in the same family as acacia, but I don't know if someone has already tried that and found low quantities so I shouldn't bother. I see the threads for testing specifically subspecies of acacia, phalaris, and a few other very specific plant genera, but it's such an abundant molecule across such a wide range of species that I have to imagine there are many untested plant classes/orders. I can't imagine we've tested all industrially/agriculturally mass produced plants for content already, which it seems would solve everyone's problems with accessibility, but if I'm going to start down that path I'd love to know if I'm reinventing the wheel and testing plants I shouldn't bother with because others already have.

2) Has anyone ever tried smoking tryptophan? It's a precursor molecule biosynthetically and I know it's gotta be getting extracted out of the plant material along with the molecule of interest, so I'm wondering two things: a) how much of the mass of extracted batch of product is actually precursor molecules like tryptophan (and therefore undesirable contaminant to hopefully be one day extracted out with improved teks) and b) ...is it actually undesirable? is it known whether if smoked in sufficient quantities whether it would have psychoactive effects? Is it actually maybe contributing to the high in extracted product batches, or is it just psychoactively inert?

Thanks in advance,

LabyrinthWanderer
