"No, what you're feeling is premature enlightenmen
Hello to all, this is my first time on such a forum though I have traveled for many years. I had a long hiatus away from the medicine and am now returning to it as an older and hopefully wiser traveler. I have recently been placed on medication to treat severe nerve damage in my leg and I came here primarily to expand upon knowledge of peganum harmala MAOI interactions. The problem is that the medication I am on is brand new and there is very little in the way of research aside from some vague references to some trials with sergaline? I think and that was okay apparently but I am unsure. I have had a journey recently after approximately 36 hours without my medication and had an amazing experience that could have resulted in a total breakthrough however I was only testing the waters for several reasons and just limited myself to a small dose and I want to go deeper but feel I need to ensure that I don't induce a negative reaction with any residual medication in my system. Thanks for reading if you got this far, I really appreciate it!

Hi, welcome to the Nexus!

Definitely be careful with harmalas, medications, and their interactions. Above all else, the Nexus is centered around harm reduction. Best bet is to always be safe, rather than sorry. Here at the Nexus, giving medical advice is discouraged simply because most of us are not medical doctors and are not qualified to tell people to start or stop taking medicines prescribed to them, or whether interactions with RIMAs or MAOIs are safe.

I know that isn't really an answer and I'm sorry that I can't be more helpful to you. There may be some others that can chime in and point you in the right direction. I truly hope you are able to figure out an answer.

See you around,

TGO

thank you for your response, I appreciate it. I would first like to make it clear that I am not seeking medical advice of any kind and secondly the medication that I am on is solely for the treatment of nerve pain and the only outcome that not taking it would achieve is my discomfort. What I was interested to know is if anyone can point me in a direction so that I might find some resources to make an informed decision. I have had two amazing journeys, my first in over 7 years, with a 36 hour gap between my last dose of medication and the commencement of the journey itself and the experiences were quite simply amazing, not the deepest that I have ever gone but the promise of something spectacular was there but I was concerned about residual effects of the medication as even though it should clear within 33 hours, of course individuals all process these things differently so there is a grey area. I plan another journey tomorrow night and while I haven't had any more than one toke each time prior to now, this medicine is the strongest that I have ever seen and I am being as cautious as I can but it would be nice to be able access some actual research and or clinical trials. I did find a paper that had tested the medication against selegiline but that isn't a RIMA so I don't know how well that will relate to the interaction of one. I have a solid background in biochem so I understand such things better than most and I'm seeking a better understanding of how RIMA's work at a base level, thanks again for your reply, stay safe and happy travels
