New to DMT but first attempt failed miserably!

Migrated topic.

Hello all. Great to have a dedicated space for all things DMT! I have only recently discovered this shamanic medicine and am very keen to have a good ayahuasca session. However, my first attempt last night failed miserably and I need some advice as to what went wrong if I am to try it again.

After much research into DMT I decided to purchase some B.Caapi and Mimosa Hostilis and make a home brew with a friend. After fasting for 12 hours, we shredded 50g b.Caapi and 12g Mimosa per person, and let them simmer in separate pans for 2 hour with a few teaspoons of white vinegar. We then strained, and reheated 3 times in all, a total of 6 hours, collecting and reducing the excess liquid.

We consumed the B.Caapi 15 minutes before the Mimosa, and waited. We took one cup each first, then an hour later took a second cup of each. And we waited.

Unfortunately we felt nothing, not even a mild effect, so we obviously did something wrong. It's frustrating because I have read so many articles from others who consumed the same dosage and followed the same procedure and had a profound experience.

So what did we do incorrectly? Does anybody know why? Any advice would be much appreciated as I really want to try this again but I am somewhat disheartened following the first experience.

Thanks.

Welcome to the nexus. I hope you stay arund and keep sharing as you find answers to your questions.

Have you read up in the archives within the ayahuasca sub forum? There is pretty much everything your asjking about fairly easy to find there. Ill throw you my 2 cents on your experince.

You got pretty lucky mate 12g mimosa with proper MAOI could have been pure freking hell for you all.
Seriously thats a lot of dmt addy! Most people have strong effects from 2-5g of mimosa.
Seriosuly read up on dosing please. An overly heavy dmt aya brew like this can be no bueno to say the least.

With that out of the way it sounds like your brewing tek is fine. 3 x 3hr boils, acidify, which isnt needed but cant hurt btw.
Tell us about how you filtered or decanted. Tell us what form was the organic supplies in. Shredded, whole ext? Did you break up the vine with a hammer?

HGow about reduction. how did you reduce, and how were you sure or each portions dosage contents.

50g should have given you some MAOI if not complete and 12 g mimosa is way too much so something went wrong some where.

Hi olympus mon and thanks for your reply.

Yes since further reading I can see that 12g is a high dose and would have been too much, but I decided to follow the recipe on Erowid (Erowid Ayahuasca Vault : Ayahuasca Preparation: B. caapi & M. hostilis) which said "This recipe was gathered from various recipes on the Ayahuasca Forum, and was posted there for scrutiny before appearing in this format" so I assumed this was ok. However I will definitely use less next time just in case, so thanks for clarifying that.

So for detail, we used whole Mimosa root bark which we but in the blender with a small amount of warm water to break it up, and the Caapi came in shredded form so it went straight into the pan. We were careful not to boil too hot, and it was stirred every 15 mins. We used the t-shirt method to filter after each simmer which seemed to work well.

We were left with approx 600ml of each which we felt was probably enough for 2 cups per person (150ml per person per cup) so we didn't feel it needed reducing.

We left it to cool and consumed the Mimosa 15 minutes after the Caapi.

Only other things to mention is whilst we fasted for the day (about 12 hours) we did have a big meal the previous evening (takeaway pizza), whereas I hear you should abstain from fatty foods. Could this be enough to stop the effects?

Thanks

Yea I know that is what Erowid recomends. Im not sure why, it really is high. maybe they just used whole or crumbled mimosa not powder.

Thats really strange but again perhaps fortunate that you all had a dud. Your brewing seems very good. I know for me 50g caapi really doesnt get things rolling but I woulod feel something especially with that much dmt. I prefer 100-130g but also I enjoy a heavy harmala experince. So perhaps either your vine is on the weaker side, and or you all need more than 50g for solid MAO inhibation.

My thoughts, back yuour mimosa down to a reasonable amount. 3-5g but keep in mind 5g is strong for some people and increase your vine. Id bump it up since you already know the vine isnt a hot one maybe try 75g caapi and have more of each on standby. no sense in wasting a whole another night. Read about how and when to re dose maybe.

Also dont worry about a light boil. We made and drank huge pots of aya out here over open flame and it was raging boiling. Still some of the strongest ayahausca I have ever drank. I doubt lightly boiling hurts anything.

as far as fasting, I wouldnt worry too much about what you ate the night before. all stomach contents should have been gone by the next night. However heavy slow digesting foods like pizza do make a big difference when eaten to near drink time. I like to eat lightly the day of. Lots of fast digesting foods like vegitables and fruits. I dont fast because I need energy when journeying. Fasting leaves me too weak to go really deep.

Keep us updated on your progress and if you cant find answers after you loooked ask away.:)

Well I guess it was a lucky escape as you say.

Thanks for your advice. I am going to change my supplier and give it another shot as per your recommendation. I will keep you posted and hopefully my next post will be in the 'mystical experiences' thead :)

Take care.

Hello stripyhornet,

Welcome to the Nexus.

Wow, 12 grams of mimosa. I know this is just echoing the above, but I'm glad that didn't work. Mimosa has been found to have upwards of 3% DMT in it. If you had fully inhibited yourselves then drunk that it could have been upwards of 350 mgs DMT per person. Yikes.

Phew!

I'm so glad you are here. This place is huge and a LOT of research has already been done. I sincerely encourage you to check the Ayahuasca Subforum as well as depth reading all of the links that you received in your Welcome pm. Those links appear at the top of the forum pages also.

So, yes, please keep us posted on your journeys and brews - I hope to see a trip report from you soon.

And again, welcome to the Nexus.

Off topic but, massive respect for the way you posted and the way you replied, serious respect. An attitude after my own heart.
