I went to a rave with my son around Christmas time. I knew he was going to rave, so I ask him if he was taking MDMA; he said he was. I do not feel this is an addictive drug that will ruin your life, and I'd rather have him taking it than drinking alcohol. So while I'm very anti-drug with most things, I do understand government scare tactics for drugs that really have very few side effects except pleasure.
The rave was very interesting. I really saw his generation differently. They weren't slopping around the place, drunk, acting like idiots (like when I was young). They were tripping on psychedelics, hanging out in piles, walking around saying "I love you" to each other. I really believe this upcoming generation will be taking the consciousness of our planet to the next paradigm. We have handed them the biggest mess in recorded history. I don't know when or how or where it will go, but I do think they have a big, big job to do.
I've always been into rather unusual spiritual journeys, so telling me about DMT wasn't a stretch. Besides, he says he was reborn. An atheist prior to the journey, he now has a deep sense of spirituality. That makes me very happy because I've always had one and was a little concerned that my children didn't seem to share it. I'm glad he has that deep sense of connectedness. I'm really very proud of him.
It helped that the same night he told me, I watched a show on NatGeo that was about a Brazilian tribe that uses Ayahuasca in ritual, and have for thousands of years. I read a LOT on it, and discovered that there is no physical or mental danger - indeed, those who use it over long term actually are more healthy and happy mentally.
If SWIM wants to tell his dad, I would suggest having his dad do some research before discussing it in detail. Mostly parents want to know their kids are safe.
