I am an aspiring writer and my chosen genre is psychedelic fiction. I'm on here to hone my craft and learn background for my stories. If any of my posts seems to indicate that I am or ever have been engaged in any illegal, drug-related activity, please rest assured the post is merely a work of fiction that I am testing out on this site to ensure my work sounds legitimate.

Here is the main character from one of my novels, described in the first person:

I'm a long-time psychonaut, first-time poster. I don't know if people SWIM here, but most of my experience (thousands of posts) has been on Bluelight where SWIMming is scoffed at.

Been doing RC's since 2000. My gateway drug was mdma, which led to weed, hash, coke, ghb, shrooms, acid, foxy, 2c-b, 2c-c, 2c-e, 2c-i, 2c-p, 2c-t-21, methylone, ketamine, absinthe, jwh-018 and probably some other stuff I've left out.

I took a lot of philosophy classes in college and was a rabid atheist until psychedelics led me to experience an uplifting ego-death at which time I understood and simultaneously converted to buddhism, and also became vegan.

Well, after that ego-death (well, ego-sleep), my ego quickly reasserted itself, and I've pursued meditation, yoga and tantra to find a more permanent path to enlightenment.

I've read Breaking Open the Head by (whoops, forgot...David Pinchbeck?) and it resonated a lot with me. I felt like we were taking different but parallel paths. I also heard him speak at Burning Man 2005, which was cool -- very crowded event, too, so I guess a lot of people like him.

I am extremely intrigued by MAPS, and generally by seeking some level of legalization / legitimacy for psychedelics that offer the valuable opportunity to shift ones perspective. I found 2c-e particularly valuable as a tool for reflection and greater self-awareness. I feel like it is impossible to truly see the ground you are standing on, because you get in the way, and if you can step aside, you can then have a much better view of where you were standing a moment ago. I feel like psychelecs serve this purpose, allow me to "step aside" from how I normally think and view the world, so I can then get a better view of myself.

I have taken some years off of any recreational drug use to get my finances and career in order. I feel stable enough now to indulge now and then, but now I have more to lose, so discretion is a big priority. Growing and extracting my own recreational drugs (for purely personal use) seems a lot safer than dealing with "sources." That has led me to read up on ethnobotanicals which, in turn, has rekindled my interest in shamanism and, too, in finally having an experience with the "spirit molecule."

With that background, you can probably understand why I have finally joined this forum. I have never done dmt or 5-meo-dmt (tried the latter once, but did not have anything like a breakthrough, only very mild trippiness, so I don't really count that experience). I have never even done salvia. The whole notion of being that "out of it" scares me. Also, I would want a trip sitter and I generally do not like to impose on others. And, frankly, some of the experience reports scare me. However, when the time is right (which I expect to be soon), those deterrents will be overcome.
