I've long been fascinated with Nordic culture, tradition and music. I carry multiple Nordic symbols tattooed on my body, including all 24 elder futhark runes. The reason is quite simple - whenever I come in contact with this beautiful music, it stirs something in me that no other music in this world stirs. It touches an incredibly primal, ancient and animalistic thread in my very DNA. It's really hard to explain - you either feel it, or you don't. It's also part of the reason why I backpacked through Norway for a month - to seek this ancient connection with something bigger than myself. And I very much felt it.

Few music projects do it quite as well as Heilung do it. They call their live performances "rituals" for a good reason. I haven't had the honour of being present at one just yet, but I've consumed enough of their work for a lifetime, and it never gets old.

Animism is very central to Nordic mythology and culture, and it's very much a central point in Heilung's art as well. A lot of their music revolves around imitating animals in various ways, interpreting the world through an animistic point of view, and reviving ancient traditions almost lost to time and the unstoppable march of modernity. I can share many more in this thread, but for now, I'll start with this indescribable performance recorded at Red Rocks in 2021:

love that, I am 50% Icelandic so I definitely have Nordic blood and I have recently learned that I am particularly fond of listening to Icelandic music while I trip. certain songs just take me there. "Verses" off the "Chopin Project" by Ólafur Árnalds is THE BEST. maybe because my first peak experience with 5-MeO happened while I was listening to that song. now I just can't stop, even with regular DMT. also Björk's music and entire persona make a lot more sense while tripping lol. I am now convinced she's not a human being but an ethereal being sent here to deliver messages from Spirit.
 
Ólafur Árnalds is quite possibly one of the most unique and original artists of our time. I have a couple of the VST libraries he made with Spitfire and if you dig his music and want to make some like it, those are an phenomenal place to start:

Of course, you'd also need his brilliance and unique touch to ge tthere, but still :D

I tried vibing with Björk more than a few times, but never in an inebriated headspace, which is probably why it never worked for me so far. I'll give it another try, because back in the day I disliked Tool and wondered why everyone was going so crazy for them, and then one day I listened to them while on LSD and it finally clicked. I've never been able to unhear the genius in their music since, and they're now one of my favorite bands. So it makes sense to give Björk another chance haha

Indeed, this type of music can be very powerful during journeys. I've used it a few times, but keep in mind it can get very, very intense.

Another Nordic band whose symbol I also carry tattooed on me is Wardruna, who are my favorite music project ever. Their music can also be extremely intense, but they also have a lot of more nature-centric songs which can have a profound effect on you while deep into the psychedelic experience.

The first part of the song from Warduna reminds me of the following track i tripped with a few times.
But has less mythical aspects.

A little difference in drumming speed or pitch can result in a different experience.
Just sharing this as reference:
The first track resulted in more intense experiences then the second one.

Indeed, simple aspects of a rythm, such as the BPM, can have a major impact on the overall feel and vibe. I also frequently wonder about that 440Hz thingy and why people say it feels more spiritual and impactful than sound that isn't on that frequency. I haven't experimented that much with it but it's a well-known stipulation.

it also helps to see her live in concert, it totally changes the experience. I loved all her older music but as her music continues to evolve it gets weirder and weirder. Once you see her perform all the new stuff in concert it really will blow your mind. Plus the COSTUMES ARE INSANE. Def go and take a tiny dose of shrooms. For DMT I haven't tried much of her music except the Fluke Remix of Big Time Sensuality! It's a really fun one! "I can sense it... something important... is about to happppennnnnnnn"
 

Wardruna has always been much more than music to me. Ever since the first moment I felt their art, I've been on a healing path. A path of reunion with Nature, of healing severed connections. Of embracing the journey upwards, and the descend on the other side. This particular song carries so much of that in its essence. Only one that has experienced Wardruna live knows the incredible vibration and energy the come with. The transformative power of their music experienced in person is something I will never forget until my very last day. And I wish everyone that same fortune that I was lucky enough to have.

Thank you for recommending Wardruna and Heilung. I've been listening to them for some months now, and it's definitely very powerful music. I love it.

I love my Meze Neo 99 Classics. However nothing can beat a subwoofer in my opinion: you can't FEEL what a sub can deliver with headphones!

That is correct, but in order to make the best of a surroud sound system with a subwoofer, you have to be in a room that is acoustically appropriate, otherwise you'll basically ruin the sound, regardless of how good your sound system is. I've been in echo-y rooms where using speakers is just a no-go, so I stick to my headphones because I can't be bothered (or am not allowed) to modify the walls.
