If you've taken a look at the OHT handbook, you've seen there are a lot of images in it. Most of them I just took from google images so we cannot use them officially to publish this. Hence I made a list of all the images that I need for the project. I am relying on artists and hobby-fotographers to help me out.

If you have somethign that fits the following list just post it here. Please only post your own pictures or ones you have FULL ownership / rights to. Please don't use incriminating pictures, pictures of you, etc.

I'm posting up a mockup of the front cover...
Just to show the layout at the moment and I have just thrown in some pictures that can be exchanged to whatever is appropriate.
It's in .qxp Quark form at the moment so this image is just a screenshot.

I like it's simplicity. I conveys the feeling of a course book without being overly complex.
(like the concept of the book...simple as black and white)

It can morph to whatever the consenus requires...

:)

Nice job. I would suggest keeping the first two pics and exchanging the last one for perhaps something where a person could be seen - but using the same kind of effects / the same style as with the extraction pic. A meditating person would probably fit the frame the best but I'm not sure it would be the best thing to represent the coures... it' your call.

I really like the cover though!

A number of the illustrations mentioned above in Enoon's list seem like they may end up being fairly interesting (such as the image of a psychedelic conference- imagine a row if silhouetted audience heads looking at some crazy trippy stuff)... Once all the book illustrations are done it might just make sense to choose three of the more interesting ones to drop into the cover.

Like the layout quite a bit overall.

to speed things up a bit I will follow Vodsels suggestion and try to get some images from wikimedia commons in - at least the ones that have good licenses. I will mark those in the list above with a yellow DONE. If anyone from here has a contribution, I will favor that over the wikimedia image, because I think this is a community project and this should be reflected in the artwork showing in it as well.

Feel free to jump in any time :)

the sooner the better. I will have to put work on this project on pause (or reduce greatly) come the beginning of May, due to work, so if we could get as much done as possible by then would be great.

Hopefully this first one can suffice for your ecstasy photo.

Top: 100mg MDMA (Molly) capsule
Middle Left: One of the infamous Pokeball presses
Middle Right: A chunk of MDMA crystal known as Moonrocks
Bottom: A couple random ecstacy pills the stamp is the Ecko Rhino

Also a few Burning Man shots from 2007:
Esplanade
Parade path
Lamplighters and an incomplete man
Rainbow
Fire conclave
Burning Man
Temple

Feel free to use any of my 2012 shots as well:

I'm sure I can knock a few more out as well but there's a start

THanks alot for the help so far everyone!

The things I'm really struggling with finding on wiki-commons are probably the ones the community can help me with the most, especially those into art.

I need some images that represent Near Death Eperiences, Out of Body Experiences and Ego Death. If you have something that is remotely related or could be interpreted as something like this, please please post!!!!!

thanks!

Hey Enoon
I found a wonderful image floating on the web (thereby royalty free imo)...I have heavily effected it and changed it from the original to resemble something dreamlike and ethereal...
I hope it is of some use...

By default we have to assume that all images on the internet are copyrighted unless it is specifically stated that they may be used for purposes like ours.

For the OHT we have to make sure that 100% of all images used are royalty free or else we might find ourselves in deep copyright trouble after printing thousands of this book. Even ONE image that contains copyrighted material can screw our project.

We cannot take any chances with copyright.

Kind regards,

The Traveler

3) picture explaining how a chemical synapse works

Form Wikimedia commons:
1000px-Synapse_Illustration2_tweaked.svg.png

1) picture that has something to do with the law or getting arrested. Handcuffs or something like that maybe

From Wikimedia Commons:
1000px-Arrest.svg.png

Thanks guys. Yeah we have to be really careful with the copy-right thing. I don't even know if I'm doing it right. I wish I could have some kind of lawyer go through it. I've a List of Figures that attributes each image to an author, sometimes a source (like Wikimedia Commons) and a license if applicable. I give the links to the license legal code as well.

I'm still missing permission on four images: two are form members here that I've sent a PM to and two are from bunkpolice that so far have not responded. We might have to make those graphics ourselves :(

There's one I'm a bit unsure about - the one from the Vollenweider-paper. I give the references directly under the image, but I'm not sure I'm actually allowed to use it. Does anyone know anything about this? Do I have to ask for permission for this image?

UPDATE:
The following images are still missing:

1) an image to explain the dosing sitter (someone taking a blotter or a pill?)

2) NDE related image

3) The color charts that I used are from bunkpolice.org found here They have allowed me to use the image

4) A Gas Chromatography / Mass spec spectrum or something of the likes

5) Image/artwork of someone with problems, a bad trip, etc. This can be a rough sketch, a painting or a foto. DONE

6) picture of activism for legalization of MJ or whatever, or a picture of a psychedelic conference

7) Image of critical thinking or someone reading a book ?

1, 2, 3, and 5 are the most important ones. The other ones I can leave out without it being too disturbing with walls of text etc.

The text is almost finished. Getting the pictures done means being able to hand it out for proof-reads and then actually publishing it on the open-web and real life.

Are those all of the pictures you need? Dang! I meant to do some for you.

I was thinking for the final one, on critical thinking, I could go with a cliche. It would be the old "brain storm" except I could could make it super over the top.

On #5, would a charcoal sketch of a dude running scared be good?

yes to #5

To situate you on the other image: the critical thinking image is meant to be in the section about how to be critical of any resources when learning about entheogens - since it's your health that's at stake. I talk about how you should use various resources and check with scientific evidence if applicable and available, and not just trust blindly what some blogger claims to be true. So with that in mind, feel free to be creative :)

It's ok if it's simple. But if you want to make something elaborate I'm happy as well.
