PanoraMIX Extraction tek first try

Hi!

I recently tried doing the panoraMIX extraction tek on Morning Glory seeds.

I started of with 20g of seeds ~ 800-1000 seeds that i put in the blender and mixed to get a nice powder. After that i put the powdered seeds into a glass jar and poured naptha 5cm above the seeds as noted in the tek. Did this 4 times since i'm going for vodka as extraction method.

i got a mix of Alcohol with a slight scent of naptha sitting for evaporation will the naptha form a top layer that is possible to extract with a pipette?

Should the naptha completely evap before pouring the vodka onto the seed mush?
Will the alcohol clean the naptha away?

I wouldn't worry about it too much.

The naphtha should evaporate away from the final product. Presumably you'll be salting it out later, which leaves the naphtha behind.
 
OK, perhaps I should have read the Panoramix tek first, but even evaporating the vodka will get rid of the naphtha as well, assuming the naphtha evaporates clean in the first place.

Forget the bit about salting out as it's not in the tek and you can look it up for yourself when you need to.
 
Ok so i have let it sit for about 2 days now since last check and it's starting to form a sort of grayish/brownish goo, still quite wet tho so it will be left to evap for atleast 12 hours more before i check on it again, gonna try an Acetone extraction on the remaining seed mush since i don't think my pulls were long enough to get all the goodies out.

is it possible to pour on more alcohol make it fluid again and let it evap down to make it more pure? Naptha evaporates faster than the alcohol i guess and hope? 😁

Will keep this thread updated with results and possibly pics coming!

Ok so now it's completely dry, no smell of naptha or anything, is it possible to make this yield more pure?

very nice ! I am also working on HBWR extractions trying to get to a pure salt.

I read the extraction you did, and it seems to de fat with naphta and then pull using a pure alcohol solvent or a diluted one I.e vodka / everclear which have higher water amounts than 99% IPA/ acetone
which maybe the reason it mentions 4 pulls for those while the acetone / iso is left at 10x pulls.

I imagine you'd be able to salt out what you have there to refine your product further.

check out my newbie thread here and take a look at my last post I mention 3 main routes for extraction, you followed the first, but didnt finish with a tartaric acid salting out.
