So lets say I have not had any problems getting what appears to be fairly clean crystals from acacia confusa extracts, and all is good. Well somewhere in the process I have some discolored solvent that I set aside after it fails to give me any more crystals and dry it out and consider that stuff waste. What I ended up with seems like a very thick brown oil that never dried completely, no big deal but I can see what looks like crystals inside so I didn't discard it.
Some time ago I had intended on doing something with my waste and just forgot all about it, but now im playing with it. I tried letting some heptane pick up whatever it could and was impressed with how much I seemed to have missed, but curious me wanted to poke at my waste product some more. I poured some acetone in with my collected waste and noticed not everything was dissolved into it.
I seem to have moved a bulk of the discoloration to the acetone, but there are distinct off white blobs of what seems like oil that sit at the bottom, a very faint amount of something that seems to float around the top of the acetone and a lot of very tiny particles (crystals?) that seem to be suspended within the acetone itself.
Most of what is in there was pulled with naphtha, I had a test run with extracting using d-limonene but didn't go too far with it as I had less luck with it and it seemed to take way too long to evaporate. For the most part I wont have a hard time physically separating most of this, but I have no clue what may be what.
I am thinking what is floating on top of the acetone might just be left over d-limonene that never evaporated, particles can be filtered out without issue, and I can roll the container to collect all the white stuff at the bottom into one blob to be sucked out. Anyone have any ideas im especially curious about this white stuff at the bottom that doesn't mix with the acetone.
Thanks
