Hello Nexusers

I am going to buy a pot for Mimosa and wondering which one to buy.

Can a stainless pot be used for 3days soaking or 4 hours boiling of an acidic solution ?
When it becomes unsuitable, like 10days soaking or 2days boiling, or can be used much much longer?
Can an enamel coated (porcelain enamel) one be used, or is it better than stainless?

What about an earthware pot, although it definetely not look like a pot for extraction...

Thanks in advance

I only use stainless steel, it cleans nice and easy, no stains no fuss.

Not sure about enamel coated pots, I dont have any of those lying around the house, only stainless steel.

My friend got very pure spice from Normans STB tek with a simple Sodium Carbonate wash. I really dont see the need to do an acid cook with Mimosa? Seems like needless work to me.

But if you are doing it that way, I read there are no probs with stainless. It is Aluminium that needs to be avoided.

I read somewhere that solvents like acetic acid and HCl react with
stainless and use of stainless is not recommended.
That's why I asked.

It stated that stainless is good for HNO3 though.
It didn't mention the exact pH.

The acid boil for my plant should be around 3 to 4 hours, but
I want to know the safe range, if there is.

I looked for a solvent compatibility table on the internet,
but most of them are for Plastic, not for stainless.

Anyway, thanks for you helpful info, gammagore and 1664.

A/b's yeild a cleaner product. Swim knows that with some materials the extra acid phase isn't needed HOWEVER with Large sacle extractions in the 1 kilo+ range even MHRB needs a good defat. Ive seen some nasty shit turn up in all sorts of plants. Yes stainless steel can take it. Peace and godspeed.
