Hi,
This is my second extraction from acrb, the first give me a goo cause fail to crystalize, i use the cyb tek...but anyway this is my problem:

The turkey baster that i use loose liquid when pass between the jars, maybe is to large, the diameter of the body is about 1,5 cm, in my area i didn't find them...i take it on ebay...and it's difficult to not suck up the base.

I've a sep funnel, but with cyb and similar teks i can't use it because of the plant material that block it

What i done in the first try was suck up also some base in the pulls, then add water and separate it in the sep funnel, work well.

What i can do ? i'm beginner so, please point me somewhere :)

Change tek with one with filtration of material and use the sep funnel ? but i like cyb and similar, no exchange jars, filtrations, boils...

Find a good turkey baster ? wich one is the best that don't give problems ?

Or do the refine water wash and sep funnel like i wrote before ? or maybe, i've not try yet the mini a/b at the end of pulls solve this problem ?

Thank for patience,
Good things.
:)

10ml pipettes with hand pumps work much better than syringes.
Ime the glass plungers like to stick & are sometimes very hard to pull up fully. Other times they slip back into the syringe extremely easily as if they had been lubed up thouroughly when pulling the syringe from the jar & transferring, effectively squirting saturated solvent onto your countertop.

Another thing you could do is put the mixture in a smaller diameter vessel. It will make the solvent layer "taller" so it's easier to suck off without getting base.

Better yet, put the mixture in some sort of tapered vessel. (pic below)

Yes the turkey basters do lose their vacuum seal and dribble a lot when transferring.

Glass pipettes from dropper bottles - take one with the rubber top:

Cut a small hole in the top of the rubber, then attach to the end of your turkey baster - sliding the end of the turkey baster into the rubber, so that as much of the rubber goes over the end of the baster as possible.. This setup should not dribble when used correctly.

What did you do with the goo, I have read that there are some procedures for recrystallisation which may work for what you want?

I use glass syringe, and I say that what you wrote us true, but it gets very easy once you learn how to do it. I have 50ml glass syringe, I've got used to it, and I wouldn't replace it for anything else.

When using a turkey baster especially, you have to keep the right amount of pressure on the bulb when you're transferring from one vessel to another. Otherwise yes, it will drip solvent out. I just place the two vessels beside each other, touching each other, then when I do the transfer I keep the bulb of the turkey baster squeezed a bit. A constant firm pressure. It takes some practice but I typically use the baster more than the pipette TBH. I just use the pipette at the end when the solvent layer is rather low and I don't want to suck up any of the base liquid.

Thanks to all,
Very good hints, i'll check my turkey baster and try with water to get practice, i found some pipette with pump on ebay, they are small, then maybe try to fix the turkey and use the two...ok you tell me what i didn't know, thanks.

For recrystalize, i done it today and now is in the freezer, with the goo..i like it but difficult to manage.

Then turkey blaster never worked for me either. I bought a set of two eye droppers at Walmart for around $2 It's a slow process but I don't lose any naphtha.

yes, but i would like a more fast method, and sometimes i can't reach the layer in a tall container, i try to use the turkey and the little pipette at the end, now i've tried a little with water, if i suck and leave for a while the tip in the liquid then slowly put out is more easy, and maybe the pump is not sealed well, i can find somethings to make a more good seal...practice. :)

The re-x didn't work for me either. But windwalkers mini A/B worked like a champ. Except it uses a more and I get a funny feeling I'm losing some DMT somewhere in the process.

...i didn't find in the search, can you give me a link ?

I use a 10ml glass syringe with a 100mm stainless steel needle for most things, works very well for smaller jobs. Fairly accurate, easy to get to awkward places and doesn’t have any plastics to deteriorate.

Turkey basters are ok when you want to pull a decent amount of solvent out of the mix quickly but crudely. I find I'll always end up with a little bit of the base solution with a baster but thats ok, you just place all of those pulls into a coffee plunger glass which is lipped - looks just like a tall beaker.

Place that glass with your pulls into a hot water bath for 10-20 minutes and all the base falls out to the bottom. Then you can simply decant it off without any trouble at all. The trick is to just allow that extra time for everything to fall out of suspension.

I've got basters, 50ml glass syringes and 10ml glass syringes, half of the time I don't need to bother with them as its easy enough to pour off solvent from a lipped glass or beaker.

Thanks again, i search also for a syringe, so i try the best for me....the pulls that have done i washed with water and separate, seem there's no trace of water, maybe on drop only,,,i want to do a mini a/b, i get rid for water with it ? and you think that the pull can stay in hexane for maybe a week ? or i have to do the mini a/b now ? i have no time.

no, did you not offend, it's allways good to have hints on safety, but did you refer to the possibility that i have little contamination or safety in general, sorry maybe i didn't understand well, english for me it's difficult to translate :)

For the contamination there are few drops of water and soda, but i clean the pulls with water and separate again, i have to decide to go with the mini a/b and in this case i leve as is or evaporate and freeze, and in this case i wash and separate again...
