Psilocin to DMT by removal of 4-acetoxy?

Migrated topic.

Keep in mind I have almost no organic chemistry knowledge. I know this can't be done, I was merely curious as to why this wouldn't be possible. Technical explanation welcome.

there is no acetoxy in psilocin, you are thinking of psilacetin (although to be fair it is sometimes called O-Acetylpsilocin).

psilocin has a hydroxy chain.

i don't know if either if these can be converted to DMT, but if they can it would probably require a bit more than the average kitchen chemist has access to (though it is entirely possible i am wrong, i am not really chemistry-saavy).

Ya, I try to avoid all advanced organic chemistry... Too many variables, too many things that can go wrong, too much I don't know, too hard to get ahold of the chemicals that are needed.
