This has probably been posted before but, for the benefit of new users, this outside link: Psychedelic Experience and Personal Growth is worth a look.
There are a number of short essays, some by noted scholars like Stanislav Grof, M.D., with titles like "Using Psychedelics Wisely," "Psychedelics and Self-Actualization," and "Molecular Mysticism: The Role of Psychoactive Substances in the Transformation of Consciousness." Many of these might be beneficial toward preparation for newcomers.
