Psychedelic experience on harmalas

They will become psychedelic as you ramp up the dose. The typical caapi dose for drinking ayahuasca is 50-100g caapi. I guess I might start at 150g and work my way up from there. I don't have much experience with caapi tea, so it's hard to give you a number, but I did go through a phase where I was vaping harmine somewhat regularly. Sometimes I'd only be able to "feel it" but when I got enough in my system it was definitely psychedelic. To me, the harmalas provide a sort of "framework" for DMT's true psychedelia. It's like there were visuals, but they would be kind of empty.
I preferred to vape the extracted harmine because it was the least nauseating way for me. It also doesn't last particularly long, which is fine because I would just need it to extend 1-2 DMT experiences.
You would boil it for the same amount of time that you would brew a caapi brew for ayahuasca. If you want to be thorough, that means 3 boils x 3 hours each = 9 hours.

Yeah its very possible to have a deep psychedelic journey on harmalas alone, I've done it many times. Rue works to along with caapi. Its sort of a learned thing in some ways, and deepens/complexifies as you work with it. But just lay down in silent darkness on a high enough dose and relax your breathing and it'll come. You fall into a sort of dream trance, but if the dose is really high it will be much more in your face...But be prepared in case the purge comes, and nausea

I can take 2-3grams+ and have a pretty psychedelic experience. In the mind atleast, colors are brightened, but not actual visual distortion.
Note: On 75grams of Caapi I have most certainly had visions. Not distortions, but actual scenes play out in my mind while "sleeping". You lay down and enter a half dream area where visions occur. Note that these might not occur with pure harmalas, I can't say seeing as I have always taken them in the form of a tea brewed from a whole plant.
Be safe with upping the dose with the Rue. Stomach issues may arise!

I've done rue a bunch of times by itself and it will blow you away.
Did 8g in a tea and I was tripping so hard...could barely move and seeing all kinds of OEV and CEV. Definitely not something to mess around with.

I did a 5g tea once and I threw up. It was a very, very strong trip, almost comparable to the 8g tea. After I threw up, everything was great though.

Harmalas are definently psychedelic in thier own unique way.
I've experimented much more with syrian rue than I have with caapi vine. 8 or 9 grams of syrian rue is enough to have an interesting experience and smoking a little weed with it definitely helps kick in the visionary aspect.
The most I've ever done at once was tea made with 20g. I thought it sounded like an interesting idea after reading the TIHKAL entry on harmaline. I tripped pretty hard that time, but I also got very sick. There were halos around all the lights I looked at and I saw the most ridiculous tracers I've ever seen. I drank the tea at a friends house and after a few hours I left to jog home. I was kind of dizzy and my balance was a little off. I remember being able to see the whole motion of my arm moving back and forth while jogging. If I turned my head I'd still be able to see where I was just looking for a couple seconds. The tracers seemed like they pulsed with my heart beat.
Visually it was kind of cool, but I was very nauseous the whole time. I stopped and threw up I think twice on the jog home. When I got home I spent more time dry heaving over my toilet then drinking water then throwing it right back up.
It was an experience I will never forget, but also one I never felt the need to repeat.

before I go any further I want to state that the following experience was not planned and posibly dangerous. PLEASE USE YOUR COMMON SENSE AND BE SAFE!
Yeah harmalas are pretty potent psychedelics, but not exactly similar to the classics like LSD/A Mescaline, and not entirely like the immerse realms DMT invoke from my exp's with them, but kind of like a Chimera psychedelic made up of tid bits of all others.
The last time I dosed oral harmala citrate (FB rue harmalas dissolved in lemon juice) was my most psychedelic exp with them so far.
I have a dodgy scale - I know the dangers - I am geting a new one. I intended to take my daily microdose of oral harmalas 20mg's or so. This was new FB so I didn't know how heavy the powder was as I hadn't chopped it up finely.
The scale fluctuated between 25 and 40mgs (I know I need a new scale) Anyhoo. I dumped the suspiciously large mound of tan powder in a shot glass of lemon juice stirred and drank.
It took around 70 mins to hit, but when it did it was like a wall of buzzing hornets hit my head and I flopped back on the couch - I was trying to update my resume at the time...
Eventually opening my eyes I was greeted by a bright colourful world where starbursts of insane detail seemed to appear in the blue skies outside. I watched pink clouds form and then zooom off into the distance leaving a sparkly trail. I tried to get up, which was not happening at all. I felt like I was disconnected from my body and my limbs flailed helplessly. everything left a trail/tracer - it got so intense that I felt like I was spinning.
It is most definitely a more "heady" high, but a definite high. I couldn't concentrate on anything, my laptop screen looked like 6 feet wide as I moved my head looking at it. I could see my arms moving in slow motion.
This is when I decided it's best to lie back, close my eyes and relax. I saw the most amazing architecture forming in my mind, colours so vividly splashed onto every surface as it was built. this gave way to classic Mosque like ceiling visuals that turned slowly while shifting hues from turquoise to red and then purples and greens. I then saw faces as lifelike as photos, some were talking and I could hear them, but mostly just mumbling. I still had a loud buzz in my head. I lay in a calm, sweaty, completely spaced out state for aaaaages watching the "mind movies" and breathing deep breaths of euphoria. I smiled a lot. I had vaped some BHO but only a small amount and tbh I couldn't tell if it did anything as I was so far gone at this point.
Eventually, like 9hrs later all I could see were clouds of colour in my head. by this stage I could walk again, and still felt quite spaced.
From reports and some articles it seems I may have taken more than 500mgs, possibly up to 750. Which is terrifying to think about considering 200mgs is fine for pharmahuasca. But I felt no nausea at all, in fact I felt quite peaceful the entire time.

Please be careful with MAOI's though. this was an accident and I could have ended up at the E.R. but I was lucky. I just wanted to give an idea of how powerful my trip was. I put my over dosing down to not chopping up my FB rue harmalas, and figured that clumps weigh A LOT more than I suspected. I am going to see how much a similar pile weighs on a friends working scale soon. And I am about to order that new scale

I usually have a very weak stomach, and was worried I would spend the day worshiping the porcelain temple. But I didn't purge once or feel even the slightest nausea.
I even managed to eat some nuts at one point.
I'm not sure why I had no nausea - perhaps very clean harmalas? I have exp'd nausea from rue tea before, but never from vaped harmalas, or my 20mg microdoses.
Doing some research on the effects I rekon I was closer to the 700mg mark.

I recommend not ever doing such dose; I had OEVs of white lightning, and a crazy wavy feeling, however, I also had horrible reoccurring vomiting & diarrhea for what seemed like a few hours (but could have been way shorter in reality). I was like a pile of sickness, within a shower, drinking shower water to try to get over the bad effects.
Let my tale be a caution to carefully avoid such a high dose.

Yeah I'm so relieved I didn't experience any nausea, from the horror stories of taking too much that I've read. I was pretty sure I'd spend the day throwing up or worse.
I reckon luck and possibly an angel or 2 were on my side.
Please folks just remember that MAO inhibition is messing with your bodies normal functions and can lead to some serious adverse side effects ~ especially at the doses needed for a psychedelic experience. Read, research and be safe! and then read some more!
