Tom Robbins is great too, he was a friend of Terence McKenna.

Philip K. Dick is the man!

the last sci-fi book i read was the maze game . It was nuts! It was obviously inspired by psychedelics and even dedicated to the mckennas

My first thought was to mention VALIS (which stands for Vast Active Living Intelligence System)... But House got there first. PK Dick was a real interesting character and an inherently psychedelic person, although he was mainly a methamphetamine abuser. Got really artistic with his paranoia.

RA Lafferty is not a well known writer, but wrote some gratuitously psychedelic work in the 60's and 70's. Arrival At Easterwine is the title that comes to mind. Its first pressing had a Mati Klarwein painting in the cover.

Neal Stephenson is a contemporary sci-fi writer who mentions psychedelics regularly in his works. Snow Crash and The Diamond Age are very highly recommended.

Howard Hendricks' Lightpaths series talks explicitly about tripping too.

Not surprising that sci-fi is the genre where you'll find the bulk of this kind of discussion.

Robert Anton Wilson. All of his fiction references psychedelics.

The Historical Illuminatus Chronicles involve belladonna trips during the 1770s. The Masks of the Illuminati happen to involve some psychedlia during the 1920s...Schrodringers Cat and Illuminatus trilogy with Robert Shea both involve 1960s and 70's psychedlic fun.

The Invisibles by Grant Morrison.


Carlos Castaneda is an obvious one to include here...

Though I have not read it, I hear Graham Hancock's book 'Entangled' is a story given to him directly by mother ayahuasca, I'd imagine that would be heavily influenced by psychedelics.
