Does anyone pay attention to the newly developing psychedelic job market? I mainly pay attention to science type jobs. Most positions are clinical or administrative at some of more known companies. I find work that Gilgamesh and Delix are doing pretty interesting though. I am a lab scientist so clinical or therapeutic work isnt up my alley. Unfortunately a lot of the discovery based synthesis and drug development or even quality aspects are out sourced.
 
Maybe checkout the psychedelic symposium at Promega in a couple weeks? Here's a list of speakers and their respective organizations. Would be a great chance to network.

Yes this job market is burgeoning in some place, with different groups, communities, organizations, and companies offering trainings of various kinds for things such as guiding and sitting, as well as a "regulated" market in some areas such as Colorado.

I was excited about this a few years ago and the area of psychedelic research. While its great that its happening, my enthusiasm has been tempered significantly by the realization that it is bound by funding and directives to keep it within the remit of mainstream psychiatry and our limited undertanding of neuropharmacology. This is to be expected, but the 'psychedelic' aspect generally gets pushed out and it becomes just another area of pharmaceutical research for the most part.



The true 'psychedelic research' being done so to speak, is by us as we traverse these domains and explore human possibilities with these tools IMO.
 
Yea it does seem a bit like goal of a lot of research and companies is to take out the psychedelic part (or make it as short as possible) and still get the benefits. I am not going to say for sure that will never work because who knows you might find a cool new treatment for depression or something. But certainly makes it a little less fun.

I am glad there are more conferences etc on these topics. When I was a younger person in academic world I would have been more enthusiastic. But yea lately I tend avoid conferences. Id rather be at home with family I guess. Too much networking and people striving around to impress each other gets on my nerves. Not particular to psychedelics just in general. Thanks for sharing though.

I guess I just would like more of discovery work to be done in house. Many companies (not even specific to psychedelic field) will draw up a bunch of compounds they want to screen and send that to a contract manufacturing chemical company who will make them all and ship them to contract research organization to screen them. So yea most of the day to day work ends up being managing these partners and trying to meet milestones.
