Hello DMT-Nexus community

I'm Janne from Finland. I'm 24 years old, interested in psychedelics, self-sufficiet living, and well almost about everything since everything seems to be connected.

I haven't read your forum that much yet but I get the idea and I was thinking that maybe you would enjoy and perhaps like to participate in this wikidatabase of publicly expressed thoughts and ideas of influental people about the effects of psychedelic drugs. Similar article once excisted in Wikipedia by name "List of notable people who have taken psychedelic drugs" but it got removed probably because it was lacking too much sources or it was otherwise too controversial.

The idea is to collect confessions of psychedelic drug use by influental people in order to get the big picture on how has psychedelic substances influenced our culture in ways we are just beginning to grasp at more holistic level. So far we have gathered around 200 testimonies with such names as Steve Jobs, Tori Amos, Sting, Francis Crick, George Carlin, Lemmy Kilmister, Bill Gates, Osho, Adam Smith, Oliver Stone, Jean-Paul Sartre etc.

So far the database is at server of Finnish Tie² community. Nevertheless it could obviously interest a more global psychedelic community so we are doing it in english and maybe it someday moves to some more international location. We have been thiking about wikia.com.

If you want to participate you need to create and account in the wiki or you can pass your information on this here topic. We do require source for all information but there is also a separate segment for doubts that are not confirmed but are worth further investigation.

Here you go, Enjoy!

This is super neat. I'm really enjoying this...

Wozniak, Steve
Steve Wozniak is an American computer engineer who founded Apple Computer, Inc. with Steve Jobs and Ronald Wayne:
* When asked why he was able to design the circuitry and build the Apple computer before anybody else, Steve Wozniak said, "It’s probably because I did more LSD than they did." http://jrryan.info/aheadtime.html

Jobs, Steve
Steve Jobs is an American businessman, and the co-founder and chief executive officer of Apple Inc. Jobs previously served as CEO of Pixar Animation Studios.
* describes taking LSD as "one of the two or three most important things he has done in his life" in John Markoff's 2005 book, What the Dormouse Said; also in an interview in Time Magazine.

my fav:
"In the '60s, I took DMT," Iggy Pop recalled. "DMT was a gaseous wax that you could smoke that gave you a 20-minute psychedelic high. You'd inhale it. And then when you'd exhale—poof, you'd be high. I saw Buddha, man. I know that sounds like no big deal. But I saw a gigantic holographic Buddha — correct in every way! Buddhas can be very intricate — these drawings that you see in books. Thousands of details were included in this Buddha. Where did they come from? I didn't make them up. I can't even draw, you know? I could barely spell cat, you know? And there it was. And I thought, Wow — the power of the mind, you know?"

Bill Gates?!? Steve Jobs I get, but fucking Bill Gates? He must've cocked up the extraction because there is NO WAY "Windows" is a gift from hyperspace. Unless the Mantoids were trying to retard our evolution ...

Aldous Huxley and "The Doors of Perception", very influential work regarding his mescaline experiences. Something to throw in there.

I was unable to find Bill Gates.

Jungleheart - thank you! My faith in humanity is restored. No-one who has been to hyperspace could possibly blight the world with such shit as Windows

This is a fooking excellent idea for a thread!

Dr Kary Mullis - Nobel Prize Winner for Chemistry in 1993 and inventor of PCR, a method for detecting even the smallest amount of DNA in ancient materials. "Would I have invented PCR if I hadn't taken LSD? I seriously doubt it," he says. "I could sit on a DNA molecule and watch the polymers go by. I learnt that partly on psychedelic drugs."

Francis Crick, who died in 2004 (88yrs old), admitted on his deathbed that he had been regularly taking small amounts of LSD when he arrived at the conclusion that DNA must exist as a double helix.

Carl Sagan - It's known that he smoked a good amount of Cannabis in his day.

Sagan disputed the "myth" of the pot high ? that the insights achieved while stoned are illusory. "I am convinced that this is an error," wrote Sagan, "and that the devastating insights achieved when high are real insights; the main problem is putting these insights in a form acceptable to the quite different self that we are when we're down the next day."

One classic anecdote from the mid-1980's shows Sagan's devotion to the inspirational effects of kind buds. Grinspoon had received some unsolicited buds from an admirer, and he shared the high-potency joints with Sagan and his wife Ann Druyan one evening. Afterwards Sagan said "Lester, I know you've only got one left, but could I have it? I've got serious work to do tomorrow and I could really use it."

Although Sagan's pot use didn't become common knowledge until after his death, his last wife Druyan was a long-time board member and important fundraiser for the National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Laws (NORML).

Richard Feynman was an extraordinary intellect who revolutionized modern physics. During his astounding career he helped design the atomic bomb, created a Nobel Prize winning theory of quantum electrodynamics, became a skilled safecracker and exposed the flaws which had led to the space shuttle Challenger disaster.

Feynman found that pot helped him to achieve the hallucinatory state he was seeking. "Ordinarily it would take me about fifteen minutes to get a hallucination going," wrote Feynman, "but on a few occasions, when I smoked some marijuana beforehand, it came very quickly."

Sorry my bad, Bill is in the rumour section. Haven't got my hands on Playboy December 1994 that is the claimed source for this rumour.

Kiitoksia :) always a pleasure to meet another Fin in a place like this.

In Surely You're Joking, Mr. Feynman he recounts his adventures with John Lilly giving him ketamine and putting him in a floatation tank.

Oh and John Lilly, who worked on everything from pressure suits for pilots to discovering how to insert electrodes into neural tissue without causing long-term damage. And took every psychedelic available.

Fascinating thread! Although I will say I think the claim that Francis Crick took LSD isn't true.
Maybe the ones that are not confessions of the person himself, should be moved to rumours section. What do you think?

Alun Rees said:
Despite his Establishment image, Crick was a devotee of novelist Aldous Huxley, whose accounts of his experiments with LSD and another hallucinogen, mescaline, in the short stories The Doors Of Perception and Heaven And Hell became cult texts for the hippies of the Sixties and Seventies. In the late Sixties, Crick was a founder member of Soma, a legalise-cannabis group named after the drug in Huxley's novel Brave New World. He even put his name to a famous letter to The Times in 1967 calling for a reform in the drugs laws.

It was through his membership of Soma that Crick inadvertently became the inspiration for the biggest LSD manufacturing conspiracy-the world has ever seen the multimillion-pound drug factory in a remote farmhouse in Wales that was smashed by the Operation Julie raids of the late Seventies.
