i don't think so , cuz lye is the stuff that "sometimes" is used to unblock the pipes, as it dissolves/thins fat,but im not sure about keeping it there for long periods of time, why not use glass? a pickle jar will do just fine plus normally comes with a lid ,so you can close it a shake the mix
about solvent in not sure if it damages the pvc , but it definitely damages the water environment as it other solvents aswell .you can check it online , just Google-it
hope it helps
A friend was pondering this. Think, with a big PVC pipe with a sealed flat bottom, the solvent layer would be really long and tall and easy to minimize the size of the layer left in the container after a pull.
Plus, think of the surface area contact that the solvent would have with the soup if you capped the top and turned it on its side.
Would be absolutely ideal, except I'm pretty sure the chemicals would eat right through that pvc.
I don't think they'd eat through it necessarily. But it's a pretty good bet that you're going to be pulling phthalates from the PVC (phthalates = cancer). Just get some HDPE or glass.
