I have been in a bit of a debate with a friend about the whole "create your own reality" paradigm a la Abraham Hicks and "The Secret". I think there is some grain of truth in there but how much is truth and how much is wishful thinking is the question I wonder. I simply can't believe that self affirmations and force of will are going to give me some great life. It takes ideas backed by actions for that to materialize.

I enjoyed having these discussions before but now it seems like as soon as I say anything it gets jumped on. All I am trying to tell people is that there is distortion of information loading the internet and book shelves these days. No one wants to listen at all. You would rather go on believing in nonsense because it "resonates" with you. Go ahead I am sick of trying to expose the underlying lies behind these movements and being called a narc or arrogant or whatever.

As the inner self is in most cases unconscious, its desires and wants may be totally opposite to those of the outer ego and that may be the source of confusion regarding these matters.
Now that is an interpetation I can get with. This also jives with my experience of getting what I thought I wanted and finding out it wasn't really what I wanted.
soulman said:Burnt, like wev said before, its always good to have both sides of the coin on display, but i think this goes a little deeper.
The people in charge, running the planet, the global elite, secret societes etc absolutlely know what consciousness is, and they are shit scared that we will discover the truth as they will no longer be able to enslave us if it happen.
