question regarding stored san pedro...

Just a quick question. Last April I made a tea out of 3 feet of san pedro. I ended up with about 64 oz of tea, and it's been frozen in the back of my freezer since then.

2 questions:

1. Is it still good/active?

2. Would boiling this down to a more managable amount affect the potency at all?

Thanks!

I'd be weary of it...but I'm just weird like that. I like fresh things. Would it still be good? Well, let's see here...Thaw it in a pot and brew it down, checking for signs of mold, smell it, taste it, does it appear to be exactly like the pedro tea you froze in april?

You could also base the tea and extract it if you want, or if it's gone bad.

Boiling it will not harm the mescaline.

Hi quantagy. As long as the tea was frozen soon after making it (i.e., not sitting around for days collecting bacteria) I think it should be fine. Mescaline's a hardy chemical and can withstand some pretty extreme conditions. Boiling it down should also not be a problem. After all, it was boiled the first time around, correct? Enjoy, and please let us know how it goes so others can benefit from your experience. Thanks!

the alkaloids are still present if they ever were

filter thoroughly
reduce with medium heat 64oz down to 12-18oz
