Quick question about DMT use 'The Machine'

Migrated topic.

Bear with me as I have never actually used "The Machine"

It seems to me if you load it up with 40mg of spice (or however much you want) and it melts on the scrub pad you put into the neck of the bottle, how hard/long is it to breathe in this tiny amount of smoke that emits? or is there a good amount of smoke from such a tiny amount of DMT? or does the bottle need to be quite small? Also does it matter what scrub pad you use as long as it doesn't contain soap?
Just a plain metal scrub pad is good to go right?

And a final question: to 'prime' the metal pad to be hot enough to melt the dmt when you drop it in, if you just use the flame around the sides of glass and than do a toke with the fire under (not touching) the pad (without any substance in it) just to heat up the pad would this be enough?

I heard so many good things about the machine, i don't want to just use parsley and my pipe.

edit- to measure out amounts without the use of a digital scale, how do you guys do it? like eyeball a pencil eraser size, or should i just suck it up and ebay a scale for this

ah so when it starts to glow its at the right temperature. and i think ill invest in a scale!

thanks for clarifying that for this newbie guys :p

No what I meant was to heat the brillo just by it self to burn of all chemicals that might be on the surface from the production.
There can be some residue of chemicals or fats there you don't want into your system.
Just do this once and let cool down before using the brillo to smoke.

oh ok, so burn it off initially to make sure later on, when it is in the machine, your not inhaling a bunch of other crap. thanks!

A scale is probably a good idea in the long run, but don't be afraid to just eye-ball a dose. I never weigh out dosages, (though perhaps I should try doing so for a change) and I get the feeling that there are a lot of people out there that don't weigh either.

As to the machine... It works well, no doubt. It's almost like some magical alchemical ritual, when you see the steel wool glow and all the white vapor plumes up... I have scrapped mine though, at least temporarily. Part of the reason is that the machine makes me feel like too much of a crackhead, and if you ever share the spice with friends, some of your more incredulous companions tend to be scared off by burning steel wool. Somewhere, in the back of my mind, it also seems disrespectful to the spice. Right now I am going with a closed-chamber pipe with a screen and a layer of (sometimes inactive) herbs on the bottom and top, with the spice in the middle. It works very well. I can't say for certain, but it is almost as if the trips have a different quality to them than they did with the machine, though this of course may have nothing to do with the method of smoking.

Anyway, that's my food for thought. Good luck!

Unfortunately my scale wont be coming in for some time. so i will eyeball very small dosages for now and work my way up. And yeah the machine does kinda make you feel like some druggie, i was thinking of just going and buying a bong, however; the process of the smoke going through the water wouldn't affect the spice though, would it? (except for cooling down the smoke of course)

Ehm, isn't Brillo made of Aluminium? Are really people using this to smoke? It is well known that Aluminium is very toxic, it is linked to several lung changes such as emphysema and increased formation of connective tissue. It is considered neurotoxic, is found to alter the function of the blood-brain-barrier, and is in some studies implicated in Alzheimer's disease. And the list just goes on... Why someone would smoke something of this toxic metal, is for me a mystery... Someone, enlighten me?

Well "steel wool" I think technically would be made out of steel. There are some dish pads (like Chore Boy) that are supposedly made out of 99.9 percent copper. I have tried different methods with the machine, including copper and the type of pad (the more coil-y type) pictured by the original poster above. Normal steel wool works the best, the thicker the better.

Though whether the steel produces any fumes during smoking, or has any health effects, I am not sure. As I said, for now I have moved on to using a pipe.

Steel (iron + a bit carbon) is totally safe. Actually, your body needs iron in quite large quantities to function properly. Copper is also reasonably safe if not ingested in really extreme quantities (several grams), but a few people have a genetic defect that make them unable to excrete copper successfully. The problem with aluminium is that it builds up in the body over time, and can therefore give neurological complications if 'ingested' several times in small quantities. The extreme lung risks are also important to keep in mind, remember you do smoke with your lungs!

I will seriously recommend everyone to NOT use any form of aluminium for anything that is ingested, no matter the route. For smoking equipment, iron and copper are the best alternatives. To be absolutely 100 percent sure, go with iron (steel). :)
